I shall be sharing with you the need to be found faithful. This is one of the most important qualities that qualifies us for stewardship.
We all know that a steward is a manager, an administrator or a caretaker of a household or business of another. The greatest requirement for a steward is faithfulness.
To be faithful is to be found to be constant or trustworthy. To be the same in public eyes and in private. To be the same when no one is watching and when others are watching. Faithfulness is being constant and trustworthy to the person who appointed you as a steward.
Faithfulness require a few things:
Understanding:
Faithfulness require understanding. Faithful people seek to understand the terms and conditions of their pledge. “They study to show themselves approved” (2 Timothy 2:15). They understand what they have committed themselves to do. Many people are unfaithful because they are hasty in their vows. They take oaths that they do not understand. From today, when you stand before the Lord don’t be hasty to make vows.
Courage and strength:
Faithful people are strong people. They are courageous people. They stand by their word even if all others won’t. They stand by their pledge and commitment without fear or favour. There are times when people become unfaithful because of the fear they have for others other than their own masters.
Single mindedness:
Until you are single minded in your commitment to something or someone you can not be found to be faithful “No man can serve two masters. You will despise one and honour the other.” (Luke 16:13)
Faithfulness requires wisdom:
A fool can not be faithful. A wise person will find creative ways to do what he or she has committed to do. “Wisdom is a principal thing:” (Proverbs 4:7). “A fool plays with sin and call it a sport” (Proverbs 10:23).
Faithfulness requires kindness and goodness:
Wicked people are usually unfaithful people. Wicked people are often selfish and critical of their masters.
There are three areas in which you must be found faithful:
That which belongs to another man, in money matters, and in little things. He that is faithful shall be trusted with more, his own, and true riches.
He that is faithful in unholy mammon shall be trusted with true riches (Luke 16:11). There is true riches and then there is money. The secret to true riches is faithfulness.
He that is faithful in that which belongs to another man shall be trusted with his own (Luke 11:12). Faithfulness makes us prosper.
He that is faithful in that which is little shall be trusted with much (Luke 16:10). Be true in little things. Keep your little promises. Be faithful even in little matters, including keeping time.
Finally
The church is advancing over darkness and you must follow. May the Lord empower us to be faithful. May you be found faithful in all that you do. In any case you will win greater favour if you remain resolute not to give up. Press on. Change is coming.
I love you
