“Counsel in the heart of man is like deep water; but a man of understanding will draw it out. Most men will proclaim every one his own goodness: but a faithful man who can find? The just man walketh in his integrity: his children are blessed after him.” (Proverbs 20:5-7 KJV)
I believe that one of the major causes of pain and frustration in the world today is mistaken marriages and immature partners in marriage. Marriage is not for boys and girls; marriage is for the matured with a sound mind.
We have learnt about the language of women going places; today I will be exhorting you on the mind set of a man going places. My purpose is to help the young man live as God would have him. This study is preparing us for life.
The young man or a man going places achieves so much because he thinks right. “As a man thinks in his heart so is he”. You will not be any different from your thoughts. Your thought pattern defines who you are.
The man who can touch the heart of heaven is the one who strives to do the following;
Honour God;
He strives to honour his father in heaven with his actions and inactions. When Joseph was tempted and tested in Potiphar’s house, he came out innocent because he chose to honour God. He was not just honouring his master, he was honouring God.
The Bible tells us in Genesis 39:7-9 that “…it came to pass after these things, that his master’s wife cast her eyes upon Joseph; and she said, Lie with me. But he refused, and said unto his master’s wife, Behold, my master wotteth not what is with me in the house, and he hath committed all that he hath to my hand; There is none greater in this house than I; neither hath he kept back any thing from me but thee, because thou art his wife: how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?”
Joseph will not “do this great wickedness and sin against God”. The man Joseph saw doing wickedness against other fellow men is actually wickedness against God. They may never find out but God would; be wise!
Example to his children:
The ideal man strives to be an example to his progeny. He is aware that his life is an open epistle to be read by his children. God favoured and revealed things to Abraham because he will command his children after God.
Abraham procured the favour of God through the decision and committment to command his household after God. The Bible teaches in Genesis 18:17-19 that “And the Lord said, Shall I hide from Abraham that thing which I do; Seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him? For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the Lord , to do justice and judgment; that the Lord may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him.”
Men making impact around the world chose to be examples to their progeny. May the Lord make room for you. May He help you to live a little straighter.
Covers his wife adequately;
The Bible tells us that the man is the head of the woman; real men cover their wives adequately. They work hard to provide for their household. They are there to protect and defend their wives. The man will cover the flaws and nakedness of his wife. The man going places takes his responsibility to his wife seriously.
Men, real men are always finding creative and godly ways to honour God with their choices, to become examples to their children; and to cover their wives adequately.
I pray for you; you will not fail. You will excel and stand in your place. Stay blessed, I love you.
