We want to discuss three more dangers of increasing. Increasing is good but there are many dangerous temptations inherent in increasing and waxing kicked. The Bible teaches us that the poor are rich in faith, and the rich tend to become poorer in faith. 3 more dangers in increasing are:
1. The danger of being puffed up
Increasing or becoming bigger has a way of making you puffed up. This is a pitfall we must try to avoid. The Bible says that “knowledge puffs up.” We must strive to avoid becoming puffed up. We must!
[Ezekiel 28:5-8 KJV] “by thy great wisdom and by thy traffick hast thou increased thy riches, and thine heart is lifted up because of thy riches: Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thou hast set thine heart as the heart of God;”
“behold, therefore I will bring strangers upon thee, the terrible of the nations: and they shall draw their swords against the beauty of thy wisdom, and they shall defile thy brightness. They shall bring thee down to the pit, and thou shalt die the deaths of them that are slain in the midst of the seas.”
2. The next danger is to trust in that which is not
There is the danger of trusting in wealth and riches when they increase but remember no increase is certain. One hot air can reduce your heap to a valley. Let us learn to trust God more when wealth and riches and people increase. We must learn to trust in the Lord and not in our increase.
[Proverbs 23:5 KJV] “Wilt thou set thine eyes upon that which is not? For riches certainly make themselves wings; They fly away as an eagle toward heaven.”
3. The danger of thinking like a fool
When people increase, they tend to think like fools. The Lord told a parable of how a man lost his life and had not prepared for eternity.
[Luke 12:16-21 KJV] “And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully: and he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits? And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods.”
“And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.”
May you escape the pitfall of thinking like a fool because of increase in wealth and riches. May God help you to escape these dangers. May you escape and never fall into these traps.
Stay blessed.
