The biggest breakthrough is to discover who you are, why you are here, and how you can make your good works visible.
[Matthew 5:13-16 KJV] “Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven“.
We have been discussing the need to make impact with our lives. God has put in each of us a deposit of grace and giftings; this is the time and season to arise and unleash these grace and gifts to make impact for others. Though many of us are willing to make impact, we are handicapped. This is because we don’t even know how to go about it.
To really make impact, we must discover;
- Who we are
- Why we are here
- How to make our good works visible
Who are we?
Our Lord Jesus Christ began by teaching His disciples how to make impact by teaching them who they are. He told them that they are the salt of the earth and the light of the world. Your understanding of your identity and who you are is important.
One of the biggest challenges of our time is identity crisis. Many people are ignorant of who they are and why they exist. They just follow the wind. They flow with popular opinions and this is hurting the church. This leads us to the second point; why are we here?
Why are we here?
The next secret to making impact is to understanding why you are here. Esther nearly missed it when she failed to understand why she was there. Mordecai had to remind her. She needed to remember that God may have put her in such place for that time. This was the time when Esther was the queen and an enemy arose to fight the people.
The people desired of Queen Esther to stand and fight with them, but she was afraid. When Mordecai prompted her to understand her purpose and the critical need of the time, she awoke and began to fight on. Many people are failing to make impact because they are missing God’s purpose for the places they occupy. Once we answer the question, “why am I here?”. We will begin to make impact.
How do I make my good works visible?
The third and final tip to make impact is to discover how to make your good works visible. We all know that doing business without advertising is like winking at a woman in the dark; you know what you are doing but nobody else does. We must make our good works known and visible in order to create the neccessary impact. We must, therefore, study to understand the dynamic strategy of making your works visible.
For me, these are three key things that will help us make a great impact in life.
