There are so many thoughts and opinions shared on knowing God. Let’s see three simple things our Lord Jesus Christ taught on the subject of prayer:
Men ought always to pray and not faint.
In Luke 18, our Lord Jesus Christ taught that we should never be tired of praying, even if the answers seem to delay in coming. We should strive and find time to pray. He emphasized that prayer, importunate incessant fervent prayer is the key thing that gets answers. When men pray, God answers them speedily, but men should continue in prayer about the same thing, to the same God, even if answers delay in coming.
The default reaction is to change your faith, your God, or your prayer when the answers delay in coming, but the Lord teaches that you don’t stop! Keep praying and expect answers!
Pray about everything you desire, but believe before you pray
In Mark 11:22-25, our Lord Jesus Christ teaches us to pray about the things we desire. He says whatsoever you desire, when you pray, believe you have it and it shall be yours. Faith is the force that pushes and makes your prayer effective. Praying with doubt in your heart is a total waste of time. Prayer however is the machine that works and produces the miracle. Faith is the fuel that drives the machine of prayer. The Bible says a double minded person cannot receive anything from God.
Address all your prayers to God
In Matthew 6:9, our Lord Jesus Christ teaches that we must pray to God and not to any creature or person. There is a new heretic teaching making rounds that people should pray to the universe. Please there is no such thing as praying to the universe, the universe has nothing to offer; our prayers are communication with God and not with the universe.
Any attempt to pray to the universe or to draw from the universe is witchcraft. Don’t twist the scriptures to your own hurt. When you pray, talk to our Father in Heaven. Direct your petitions to God. The woman in the parable in Luke 18, went to a judge and not to the universe.
Personal prayer
Dear Lord, let the words of my mouth, the meditations of my heart, the cry of my spirit, and even the thoughts of my mind be acceptable unto You. Help me to pray always and not faint! Help my unbelief that it does not stop my prayers! Let me experience You at work in my life. Thank You!
Amen
