[1 Timothy 1:18-20 KJV] “This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare; holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck: of whom is Hymenæus and Alexander; whom I have delivered unto Satan, that they may learn not to blaspheme.”
We have already shared that the church is called to war and not to wait on a deliverer. We are called to wage war against every satanic power and aggression against our lives. We must arise and fight fiercely for the full expression of destiny. Apostle Paul admonished Timothy that the only way to rise to where God was taking him was to war a good warfare. Three things you will need to win in warfare against evil and oppositions are:
- Prophecy: Inspired instructions, revelations, teachings and counsel that has been spoken over you.
- Faith: Things you have read and heard from the word of God
- Good conscience: Good judgement and moral guide.
He was emphatic that waging a good warfare will require prophetic direction, faith, and a good conscience. If you let go of any of these things, you will make a shipwreck of your faith. A typical example of someone who made a wreck of his faith because he threw faith and good conscience to the wind was Alexander the Coppersmith. He ended up speaking blasphemous things against the apostles and the ministry. We must all take a hold of prophecy, faith and a good conscience.
Prophecy
These are inspired utterances and revelations, teaching and counsels that have been given before now. Sometimes, before you embark on a journey, a new season, or a year; prophetic words must be spoken. If you want to win in life, you must take hold of word which were spoken ahead of you and by them war a good warfare. Parents, prophets, and instructors don’t just speak. Lemuel’s mother taught him to prophecy. May you keep the words your father and prophet tells you!
Take a hold of faith
Faith comes by hearing by the word of God; miracles are worked by hearing by faith. Until you believe, you cannot go far. You must believe if you are going to win. Believe in God, believe in yourself, and believe in possibility. Faith is the shield by which you quench the fiery darts of the enemy. You must take hold of the shield. We are marching into battle and every one of us must build faith. We must take hold of the shield of faith.
Good conscience
Conscience, the guide to right and good morals. All things may be lawful but all things are not expedient. You may have every right to say it or do it, but ask one question, will it be for the common good of all men? Conscience is the most important compass for the child of God. Sometimes, you may feel so offended but before you act, pause and think. Your anger does not work the righteousness of God. Most often than not when you feel so right, you may be acting selfishly. I pray God will sprinkle your hearts and minds with the blood of Jesus. May your conscience be awakened to answer to equity!
I have no doubt that if you can take a hold of prophecy, faith, and a good conscience; you shall win the battle. The devil should not win the day; the devil should not have a say. This is the time to arise and wage a good warfare.
