What do I see when I study the life of Cain, the first son of Adam. When I study Cain, I see a man born with great potential; he was a man received from God yet failed from achieving his prophetic destiny because;
1. Through unbelief, Cain offered an unpleasant sacrifice:
The first problem with Cain, which we should do well to avoid, is offering a sacrifice without faith. The Bible teaches that by faith Abel offered an excellent sacrifice and was accepted. We can then infer that through unbelief Cain offered an unpleasant sacrifice.
Faith is the force that should drive all actions that involve God. Divinity answers to faith and not to actions. Your faith is what add eternal value to your sacrifice. Cain offered an unpleasant sacrifice because of unbelief. He could not do well because of unbelief.
2. He blamed others for his failure:
The second thing I see when I study Cain is a man who will not take responsibility for his failure. He blamed Abel for being the cause of his failure; when in fact, his sacrifice was rejected because it was unpleasant.
He offered a grain offering when God expected a blood sacrifice. Instead of understanding that he acted in unbelief and that is why his sacrifice was rejected; he turned round to blame Abel. I learn that I must take responsibility when I goof.
3. He disregarded godly admonishing;
The third thing I see in Cain was a man driven by emotions. Before he killed Abel, God warned him. God warned him to master and dominate sin, rather than allowing sin that had been couching at his door to have him.
Cain could not rule over his spirit. Cain was a man driven by anger and strong emotions. He murdered his brother in cold blood because he allowed his disappointment and anger to control him
4. Unrepentant and proud heart
At the heart of Cain’s pitfall is pride. After he murdered Abel, when God questioned him; he talked back at God. He was too proud and the pride blinded him. God crowns the meek with salvation. He is expecting humility from us. Let us learn to acknowledge our sins and prosper.
Stay blessed!
his sacrifice was not accepted because it was done from unbelief not because it was a grain offering and not because God was expecting a blood sacrifice
