[Hebrews 5:11-14 KJV] “Of whom we have many things to say, and hard to be uttered, seeing ye are dull of hearing. [12] For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. [13] For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. [14] But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil”.
Christian maturity is one of the key focuses of the work of a pastor. We are called to feed, edify, equip you for the work of ministry and church growth. The body of Christ must be able to edify itself through the contribution of the individual members who are each working effectively. It is the desire of every minister to see a church that is growing spiritually and maturing in the things of God.
The following are four signs that you are maturing spiritually;
1. You become sharp in understanding:
Maturing Christians can understand hard things. Baby Christians are unable to understand hard things. They still depend on milk and not on meat. They need to be told everything word for word and even sometimes followed and directed. As you mature, you become sharp in understanding. You begin to understand things in a better way.
2. You are able to teach others what you have been taught:
There is a time when you have to become a teacher, many people still have a need for a teacher, even when they ought to have been teaching. Maturing Christians are able to lead others to Christ and disciple them accordingly. I pray that you shall begin to train to be able to teach and lead others to Christ. You must become a teacher and bring others to Christ.
3. You don’t need to be told in plain language:
Another sign of maturing spiritually is when you are smart enough to discern even things you have not been told. Really maturing people understand hints and parables. They are not waiting to be told everything in simple plain language. They are able to decipher hints and understand parables.
4. You can discern good from evil:
The Bible teaches us that those who constantly allow the word of God to guide them mature to be able to discern good from evil, even without referring to the book. By constant use, a man can exercise his or her senses to discern good from evil. This is one of the most important signs of maturity.
We can really begin to do the first works as we mature in the things of God. I pray that you shall not miss the things that lead to Christian maturity. The devil can challenge and play around with baby Christians, but he dare not try matured believers.
Be blessed, I love you!
