I want to speak to you today about five (5) that can make or break a person. Everyman on the face of the earth is trying to survive, succeed, be secured and be significant; there are, however, five things that may determine how well you will do in life: S-H-A-P-E
- S – Your spiritual net
- H -Your habits
- A – Your aptitudes
- P – Your perspectives
- E- Your experiences
Strive for spiritual advantage
It’s important to note that life is more spiritual than social or natural. There are always spiritual things that are either working for or against you. Whereas some things are working for you, some are also always working against you. We must therefore fight for a spiritual advantage. When Deborah went to war against Sisera, the heavenly host fought along with them. There are spiritual forces that are interested in the outcome of your life.
The conclusion, however, is “if God be for us no one can win against us” “if we love God nothing can separate us from the love of God” “ if we walk in the Spirit, no law can be against us”. Joshua understood this truth too well!
[Joshua 5:13 KJV] “And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, behold, there stood a man over against him with his sword drawn in his hand: and Joshua went unto him, and said unto him, Art thou for us, or for our adversaries?”
[Romans 8:31 KJV] “What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?”
[Galatians 5:23 KJV] “meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.”
Build healthy habits
Jesus Christ was able to fulfil his mandate because he had healthy habits.
[Luke 4:16 KJV] “And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read.”
What are your habits? What customs do you have? What are you noted for? Unhealthy habits will lead to a stinking life; healthy habits lead to successful living. Daniel succeeded because he had healthy habits;
[Daniel 6:10 KJV] “Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime.”
Sharpen your skills
The third thing that can make or break you are your aptitudes. When your skills are sharpened you win with just a little effort; but when your skills and talent are not sharpened; you struggle. Let us strive to get training in something. You must be savvy if you are going to have an advantage. Most of the men that surrounded David were skilled in some weapon of war.
In all your getting get wisdom
Wisdom is the principal thing and perspective is the game changer. Many have failed in life because they had the wrong perspective. They saw things through the eyes and understanding of a child. Many people just see and think on things in only one perspective. May the Lord grant each of us understanding into life and may we gain the right perspectives to things.
Despise not the chastening of the Lord; learn through it all
Don’t let anything you go through stop you from living but learn the most important lessons from the things you go through. Even our Lord Jesus learnt obedience through the many things He suffered.
