[Mark 16:14-20 KJV] “Afterward he appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat, and upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them which had seen him after he was risen. [15] And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. [16] He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. [17] And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; [18] They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. [19] So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God. [20] And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them , and confirming the word with signs following. Amen”.

The Bible teaches us of five signs that follow faith and believers, these are casting out devils, speaking with a new tongue, taking up serpents, being immune to deadly things, and laying your hands on the sick. We have that full assurance that these five-fold signs shall follow them that believe. There are five lessons we can learn in relation to signs and the supernatural.

Signs must not be sought:

The Bible tells us that signs follow faith, faith does not follow signs. Therefore, you must not therefore go chasing after signs; you must go after the word that births the faith and signs will follow you. Many have erred from the faith and the way, because they followed after signs. The safe and proper way to walk in the supernatural is to walk in faith. Spend time building your faith, and signs will follow you. Instead of spending 38 years at a pool seeking a sign, spend your days soaking in the word of God.

Signs must exalt and glorify Christ:

2 Corinthians 4:7 teaches that we carry the treasure of God’s glory in earthen vessels that the excellency of the glory of God would be of God and not of us. Our signs must exalt Christ and glorify His name. Any workings of signs and wonders that exalts and glorifies any man or thing is idolatry. If I have to wait for Simpe Bediako before I can be healed or delivered or empowered, then I have made an idol out of Simpe Bediako. The signs must exalt Christ; in as much as God works through a human agent, we must understand that God is the miracle worker.

Signs must establish the church in the power of God:

The manifestation of the Spirit and power is given so that our faith would not dwell in the wisdom of men but in the power of God. Signs are given to establish the dominion and supremacy of God. Any sign that makes us have confidence in anything other than God is devilish and satanic. Signs must make us trust more deeply in God and not in man’s wisdom (See 1 Corinthians 2:1-4).

Signs are not for sale:

One day, a sorcerer offered money to the disciples of Christ that they might give him the power of God; the chief apostle Peter cursed him. The power of God is not for sale and cannot be bought. Any power that can be bought is not be the power of God. In any case, the spirit of a prophet or an inspired speaker is subject to the prophet; a greedy prophet may require money before praying for your needs. But the proper way is to freely give  out what they freely received. It is only reasonable to give to support the ministry of the minister by whom God is blessing you (See 1 Corinthians 9:9-13).

Signs manifest in an atmosphere of honour:

You must honour the minister if you want to be blessed by His anointing. The anointing you don’t honour cannot bless you. In Mark 6:1-7, we understand that even our Lord Jesus could not work mighty miracles in His hometown, because the people there could not honour Him. The grace you despise will despise you. The anointing you despise will despise you. The only sign an anointing you despise can deliver to you is judgement. Our Lord Jesus said “an evil and adulterous generation seeks for a sign but the only sign they will be given is the sign of Jonah.”

These are the five simple things I want to say about signs and manifestation. You will not miss your sign and supernatural breakthroughs in life.

Be blessed; I love you!
