There are times when tarrying with your pastor is important. Today’s message is on 6 prayers you must pray while tarrying with your Pastor before God.
[Matthew 26:36-46 KJV] “Then cometh Jesus with them unto a place called Gethsemane, and saith unto the disciples, Sit ye here, while I go and pray yonder. And he took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and very heavy. Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me.”
“And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt. And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour? Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
“He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done. And he came and found them asleep again: for their eyes were heavy. And he left them, and went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words.”
“Then cometh he to his disciples, and saith unto them, Sleep on now, and take your rest: behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners. Rise, let us be going: behold, he is at hand that doth betray me.“
Many of the times, however, many of us fail woefully in this regard. Many of us are so worked up that we are unable to even wait for an hour. The Lord warned them to watch and pray lest they enter into temptation. We are to watch and to pray. This is a call from the Lord.
Let us arise and pray!
1. Pray that God will help you to recieve your pastor as you ought to
What you can recieve from an anointing is determined by how you recieve the anointing. Pray that God will help you to recieve your pastor in the right way.
“He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me. He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man’s reward. And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.” (Matthew 10:40-42 KJV)
2. Pray that God will help you to recieve counsel and word from your pastor
There is always something your pastor knows that you don’t know. God shows the moses his ways and Israel his works.
“He made known his ways unto Moses, His acts unto the children of Israel.” (Psalm 103:7 KJV)
3. Pray that God will manifest his presence where we are waiting. Some times those with us get discourage because they can not discern the presence of God.
The servant of the prophet was afraid until he saw the fire chariots and horses
Jesus prayed and said “Lord I know you hear me when I call but for the sake of these ones, hear me now…” this is what he said at the grave of Lazarus!
4. Pray that God will show us His ways that we may walk in them
God showed moses His ways but showed Israel His works. We need both the ways and works of God.
5. Pray that God will show you His glory
Sometimes we make God too small in our eyes until we see His glory. Jacob slept a whole night at the gates of heaven and snored; but immediately he saw the glory, he built an altar.
People play around you and joke around you because thy have not seen the glory of God in your life.
6. Pray that God will help you to see the glorious light in the gospel your Pastor preaches
There is an evil power blinding you from seeing the glorious light in the word and counsel of your pastor. May the blindness be removed and may your backsliding be cured!
Stay blessed
