Every word that comes out of the mouth of the Lord to you has a purpose, and it must fulfil that purpose. Often, many of us are always seeking a new word, but one word from God can last you a lifetime.
Text
[Mark 4:13-20 KJV] “And he said unto them, Know ye not this parable? and how then will ye know all parables? [14] The sower soweth the word. [15] And these are they by the way side, where the word is sown; but when they have heard, Satan cometh immediately, and taketh away the word that was sown in their hearts. [16] And these are they likewise which are sown on stony ground; who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with gladness; [17] And have no root in themselves, and so endure but for a time: afterward, when affliction or persecution ariseth for the word’s sake, immediately they are offended. [18] And these are they which are sown among thorns; such as hear the word, [19] And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful. [20] And these are they which are sown on good ground; such as hear the word, and receive it, and bring forth fruit, some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some an hundred”.
Discussion
God sent Joseph ahead to Egypt to preserve Israel, and that was his destiny. Moses was born to be a judge and deliverer of Israel; that was his destiny.
When God called us, He called us for a purpose. He called us to serve that purpose. When He said, “Separate unto Me Barnabas and Paul … “, they remained separated. Whether in nakedness, peril, poverty, rejection, emptiness or fullness, they remained faithful and separated.
As we hear the word of God daily, we make decisions and trust God to fulfill His good word towards us; but remember, every decision you make based on the word will be tried by many things. It will be tried by devils, trials, personal cravings, and time and truth. You will enjoy the fruits of your decision if you are able to overcome to the end. Half hearted effort does not get results. You must carry out your decision to the end. If you decide to build a tower, you must finish it; if you decide to go to war, you must finish the war. You must finish what you started. If you decide to get your healing, chase it until it is delivered. Whatever decision you made based on the word, push and press until it is fulfilled.
What word has God spoken to you? What calling is on your life? What word have you received from God? Well, there are some six things that are likely to fight the word from fulfilling. These things will try to stop you from walking in the word.
1. Misunderstanding the word
Many of us are unable to have faith and believe the word that comes to us because we misunderstand it. The Bible tells us that the birds stole the word because the people did not understand the word.
In the book of Acts, we read that Israel missed God for 40 years because they misunderstood what He was doing in Moses. Many of the times we miss God because you don’t understand the word. Understanding leads to faith and deeper conviction.
[Acts 7:22-25 KJV] “And Moses was learned in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, and was mighty in words and in deeds. [23] And when he was full forty years old, it came into his heart to visit his brethren the children of Israel. [24] And seeing one of them suffer wrong, he defended him, and avenged him that was oppressed, and smote the Egyptian: [25] For he supposed his brethren would have understood how that God by his hand would deliver them: but they understood not”.
Israel missed God because they did not understand His dealing. I pray that none will miss his time. I pray for the spirit of understanding to come upon us massively in the name of Jesus Christ.
2. Lack of roots and moisture:
The second thing that fights fruits is lack of roots. Many of us are too superficial in our approach and pursuit of God and the things of God. You will bear fruits on the word when you learn to spend time as an addicted follower of God and go deeper with truth. You must keep hearing the same truth and watering it again and again to get fruits that remain.
Whether you expect it or not, persecution and affliction will arise because of the word. The word will try you and you must overcome to the end. The only way to press through trying and difficult times is gaining deeper roots and greater moisture.
3. Lust:
Nothing chokes the word more than the lust for other things. You cannot run with your word when you have fallen in love with other things. Any man who develops a strong cravings for others things cannot bear fruits according to the word. We must love God and the word with all of our hearts.
You can bear fruits by the word when you are content with what the word promises. If you love cars more than the eternal life God promised, you can’t run. You must delight yourself in the word and you will be able to run with it.
4. Anxiety and cares of life:
It is important to remember that the nation’s neither seek God nor the kingdom because of cares and anxiety. They are running after things and have no time to seek God nor His kingdom.
You will lose drive and passion when you begin to ask questions like, how shall I get this or how shall I get that. Anxiety and cares will choke your budding faith and make it barren. We must all learn to trust that God is able to care for us. We must trust that God will never leave nor forsake us. Remember to run with zeal.
5. Pride of life:
Sometimes, we want to feel cool and be as everyone else, forgetting that we are called with a unique calling. Many of us want to be loved, accepted and celebrated, and sometimes, what is popular may not be true.
We must strive to be meek and humble. You should not think too highly of yourself. We must think soberly and down to earth.
6. Impatience and intellectual dishonesty:
It is important to understand that God works in His own timetable and not on ours. Any man who can bear fruits must be patient and honest. Impatience is a killer. The Bible tells us to “be followers of those who through faith and patience inherit the promise”.
I pray for you that God will help you to bear fruits on the word! May the Lord help you to win over these beasts!
Stay blessed, I love you;
