[Ephesians 5:18-21 KJV] “And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ; submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.“
1. Dress decently and moderately:
Your appearance can be a big distraction. People will see how you appear before they hear what you will sing! In 1 Corinthians 14, Apostle Paul teaches that all things should be done decently!
2. Leading praise and worship is a spiritual ministry not a performance:
God is seeking worshippers who worship in spirit and in truth! We must learn to approach leading praise as a ministry and not a performance!
3. Open your eyes most of the times:
Even if you close your eyes at times, open often. This will help you to observe the move of the spirit and connect with the worshippers.
4. Smile!
Let us know you are enjoying your own ministry. You facial expression adds a lot to the ministry. Smiling will transform the singing.
5. No fussing!
Don’t complain and fume about little things. Encourage the saints to praise and worship their God. Be careful not to brow-beat them!
6. Always have a plan!
It’s better to have a song sheet handy which you may not use than to forget your songs. Have a plan for the worship and be guided!
7. Have a scripture ready to recite for exhortation
The worship leader is actually a pastor and must be able to exhort the worshippers to come before God!
Stay blessed
