I want to exhort you on the need to stand with your pastor, and I want to offer 7 simple tips. It is important to remember that your pastor is a gift given to you by God, a helper of your joy, and a shepherd of your soul.
[Hebrews 13:16-21 KJV] “But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased. [17] Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you”.
[18] “Pray for us: for we trust we have a good conscience, in all things willing to live honestly. [19] But I beseech you the rather to do this, that I may be restored to you the sooner.”
[20] “Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, [21] Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.”
Pastors or shepherds are rare gifts that must be treasured and upheld with honour reverence and dignity. That is not to say that you follow your pastor as a stooge, but you should follow and stand by him as long as he is following and imitating Christ.
If your pastor refuses to follow Christ and obey Him; he or she ceases to be a pastor. The Lord told Peter to love and follow Him before commending him to feed His flock. Every pastor must love and follow the Lord, before feeding the flock.
The following are seven simple tips to stand with your pastor;
- Communicate with him concerning giving and receiving
- Obey him as someone who must give an account of your soul
- Pray for him, as long as he has a conscience to live honestly
- Absolve him
- Serve him
- Advance his legacy
- Care for him
I believe that these tips will guide you to safely stand by your pastors. As I said, pastors are rare gifts. Only a few men are able to stand in that office for long.
I suggest that you give to and receive from your pastor, obey and pray for him, absolve and care for him, serve and advance his legacy because these men and women are making huge sacrifices to keep the wheels of revival running. You cannot just think that the fire on the altar burns by itself. Some men and women serve at the altar to keep the wheels running. Let us learn to honour them.
It is important to understand that many of them are still humans and struggle with everyday challenges as you do, may you see the need to bear them up in prayer too. If your pastor happens to step on your toes, learn to forgive him but don’t let the man in the pulpit lead you to hell. Follow him when he has shown beyond reasonable doubt that he will live honestly and with a good conscience.
With these seven tips be admonished and stand by your pastor.
I love you!
