[Jeremiah 13:23 KJV] “Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots? then may ye also do good, that are accustomed to do evil”.
Sin is a nature and not a colouration. Sin is not just a pigment but a nature that indwells a sinner. A sinner is a sinner; a holy bath will not renew them. Sin is a nature that lives within and controls a man’s behavoiur.
Apostle Paul in Roman 7 teaches us the secret to deal with the sin problem. The apostle acknowledges that sin is a nature that indwells and must be dealt with. He however emphasizes that only one man can deal with the problem of sin, and that is Christ Jesus!
[Romans 7:14-25 KJV] “For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin. [15] For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I. [16] If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good. [17] Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. [18] For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not. [19] For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. [20] Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. [21] I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me. [22] For I delight in the law of God after the inward man: [23] But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. [24] O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? [25] I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin”.
The word of God is clear on this subject, that a man who is used to sin cannot stop sinning. In much the same way, it is impossible for a brown African to bleach and remain permanently yellow. Indeed what makes the African black is in his nature; what make the leopard spotted is not paint, it is in its nature.
A sinner will continue to remain a sinner and still sin until he or she is liberated from the captivity that holds him or her bound. Only Jesus Christ can liberate you from the captivity of sin. Joining a church cannot liberate you, singing in a choir cannot save; only one thing can, and that is to find Jesus Christ.
Until the person or nature in you changes, you cannot change your behavior. The source of sin is in the sin nature we are born with; the source of righteousness is in the righteous nature that we recieve when we become born again.
I pray that the Lord shall touch and transform us to walk in the newness of life that we are born for. This is the time to be born again. This is the time to accept Jesus Christ into your heart. You must recieve Jesus Christ into your heart if you can change. Jesus Christ is the source of Life. Recieve Him today into your heart for a changed life. Stay blessed.
I love you;
