[2 Timothy 1:3-14 KJV] “I thank God, whom I serve from my forefathers with pure conscience, that without ceasing I have remembrance of thee in my prayers night and day; [4] Greatly desiring to see thee, being mindful of thy tears, that I may be filled with joy; [5] When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also.
[6] Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands. [7] For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. [8] Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God; [9] Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began, [10] But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel:
[11] Whereunto I am appointed a preacher, and an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles. [12] For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day. [13] Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. [14] That good thing which was committed unto thee keep by the Holy Ghost which dwelleth in us”.
This message, Don’t Throw away Tomorrow, is inspired by what I learned from Dr. Robert Schuler. In an interview, he was asked the meaning of the title of his new book by the same title. And he replied, “Don’t stop living in hope”. I hope this message helps you to advance through lean seasons and challenging times. Always remember that tough times don’t last but tough people do.
The apostle Paul wrote that in carrying out his God-given assignment, he faced great pain, but he kept hope alive and pressed on, and was not ashamed because he knew whom he had believed, and was persuaded that He is able to keep that which he had committed to Him against that day. Hallelujah! God is able and He will perfect that which concerns us. None should throw away tomorrow. Mark my words and read my lips “Don’t throw away tomorrow”.
What does it mean? Don’t stop living in hope, don’t stop hoping for good as you live, loving God and in His purpose. Don’t throw in the towel. No situation is too bad for God to fix. Your case may be stinking but that cannot put God off.
Why should you keep tomorrow today? Because once there is life there is hope. Only a dead lion is hopeless but as long as there is life there is hope. Things may not be going the way you want but still, don’t throw away tomorrow.
Are you still serving the living God? Then say with the preacher, “Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls: Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation. The Lord God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds’ feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places. To the chief singer on my stringed instruments“. (Habakkuk 3:17-19 KJV). Hallelujah! The ministry may not be growing the way you want but don’t throw away tomorrow. The marriage may have grown stale but don’t throw away tomorrow.
How then can you keep tomorrow today?
1. Be persuaded that the gift you received is still in you:
The gifts and callings of God are without repentance.
2. Stir up the gift of God resident in you:
What is this gift? It is power, love, and sound mind. Don’t lose your drive, your love, or your sound mind.
3. Don’t be ashamed of the testimony of the Lord nor of His prisoners:
Be willing to be a partaker of the affliction of Christ if that is the will of God. They won in heaven because they did not love their lives unto death (Revelations 12)
4. Hold fast the form of sounds words that you have heard of me in faith and love:
Hold fast to sound words. Hold fast to words that strengthen and lift you up.
5. Keep that which is committed to your care by the Holy Spirit:
There is no way you can keep that which is trusted to you except by the Holy Ghost.
Be blessed!
I love you;
