I want to speak to you today about commanding enlargement. We have what it takes to command enlargement. You must be able to get results that match your appearance.
[1 Chronicles 4:9-10 KJV] “And Jabez was more honourable than his brethren: and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, Because I bare him with sorrow. And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested”.
Do you remember the fig tree that was cursed by the Lord? He cursed the tree because it had the semblance of fruitfulness yet it had no fruits. There are times when your results do not match your looks and efforts. There are times when you put in so much but get so little out. We must, therefore, arise and command our enlargement. We cannot remain small and enjoy being small. This is the season and time to command your own enlargement.
The Bible tells us that Jabez was more honourable than his brethren, but his mother called him Jabez because she bore him in sorrow. His mother labeled him and he accepted the label and it began to work on his mind and affected his results. His mother called him sorrow and he answered to sorrow and behaved like sorrow. Most often than not, the name you answer to has a way of affecting your performance and delivery.
So, how do you command your own enlargement?;
Firstly, Reject the comfort of staying mediocre and mundane:
I believe that most often than not, what we don’t fight remains with you; what we don’t confront will dominate. You must arise and reject mediocrity and mundanity. I believe that these are the times when you should not allow people to label you. You don’t have to allow people to call you a small church, the poor man, Blind Bartimaeus, etc. I don’t know what name you answer to, but don’t allow people to label you. If they manage to put a label on you, they will control you by that label. Sometimes, people even call you Pastor only to bind and control you. I have seen how people will do everything to put a label on you, just to control you.
Secondly, Pray:
Apart from refusing the bad labels, you must also arise and pray. Let your request for enlargement be made known unto God. I pray that as we wait on God, He will break the limits, and give us expression. Anything you don’t challenge will remain. Anything you don’t fight will remain. You must arise in this season to challenge the things that try to keep you down. I pray that you will desire enlargement and beat every territorial confinement. I pray that you will not remain small, but desire the enlargement. When Jabez began to desire increase and expansion, he earnestly began to seek it in prayer. We want to pray that God will bless us: Seek the blessing and seek it earnestly. Jabez said “that Thou may enlarge my coast: He sought the enlargement. He commanded it and also requested that “The Lord would keep evil from harming him”. I am trusting that the Lord will grant your request. You will not fail nor remain small. The Lord will bless you.
Finally, Be ready to push and work harder:
Enlargement means more work, greater effort, and greater demands. You cannot sustain enlargement if you are not ready to work harder, hence the need to brace yourself for hard work.
I know without doubt that as we command enlargement, the coming season will be large. The Lord will arise to help us and keep us from evil in the name of Jesus Christ!
