When the disciples noticed the commitment and devotion the Lord gave to prayer, they requested that the Lord should teach them to pray. I am frustrated that there is a lot of teaching on prayer but very few actually practice praying. Many know about pray but only few actually pray. This book is about learning to pray, not learning how to pray. I am inspiring you to learn to pray.1
Or for nothing at all, there are six prayer points that every believer must pray at least once everyday of our whole life.
I believe it is the first thing you should do when you wake from sleep. You have to start your day right and start with Jesus! We should cultivate the habit of praying first thing in the morning.
Everyone of us must pray these prayers everyday of our lives to strengthen our relationship with God, role as partners and co-labourers in world evangelism, our dependence on him for provision and protection etc.
You may spend an hour on prayer daily praying that
- The name of our Father in heaven be hallowed. This reinforces the awareness that we have a father in heaven.
- The kingdom of God will advance and his will will be done in all the earth. Pray that the will of a God will.be done in your life, home, family, community, your work place, you city, nation, and to the ends of the world.
- God will give us our needed ration, provision and supplies. Give us this day our daily bread. In fact this reinforces the truth that if you have what to eat and to be clothed with, you should be content.
- God will forgive our trespasses as we forgive others who trespass against us.
- God will deliver us from evil and lead us not into temptation. We need the protection and leading of the Lord to escape the wickedness that is in the world.
Why should you pray this everyday?
Because the kingdom, the power and the glory belongs to God. It all belongs to him and he gives it to whoever he desires.
- Luke 11:1-4 KJV – And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples. [2] And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth. [3] Give us day by day our daily bread. [4] And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. ↩︎
