[Luke 4:1-2, 13-14 KJV] “And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, [2] Being forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days he did eat nothing: and when they were ended, he afterward hungered”.

[13] “And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season. [14] And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about”.

I want to speak to you about walking in the power of the Spirit. The truth is, it is one thing to be anointed and another thing altogether to walk in the power of the Spirit.

Wickedness is real, and there are real dangers in the world. There are wicked and unreasonable men in the world where we conduct our business. I pray that you shall arise and see the need to walk in the power of the Spirit. There are serpents, and scorpions, and powers of the enemy in the world. We need to have power to master such beasts and to win over the wickedness in the world. So, I want to share with you 5 life-changing tips from the life of Christ on walking in the power of the Spirit.

To be able to walk in the power of the Spirit, you must be;

  1. Baptised by the Holy Spirit
  2. Be lead by the Spirit
  3. Endure temptation
  4. Spend time fellowshipping with the Spirit
  5. Persevere to fulfil your ministry

Holy Spirit baptism

The first tip to walking in power is Holy Spirit baptism. Our Lord Jesus Christ fulfilled all righteousness to be baptized in water and in the Holy Ghost. He left no stone unturned, He did all that it will take to be baptized in the Holy Ghost. It may have been inconvenient, cumbersome, and anything; but He went for the Holy Ghost baptism. We must follow that example, crave for the anointing and get baptised.

Being led by the Spirit

Roman 8:14 teaches that “as many as are led by the Spirit, they are the sons of God;” and if the Apostle John teaches that Jesus Christ gives power to those who believe on His name to become the sons of God, then power is given or made available through the leading of the Holy Ghost (See John 1:12)

The Bible teaches us that right after the baptisms of our Lord Jesus Christ, He was led by the Spirit into the wilderness. So, the second important tip to walking in power is the leading of the Holy Spirit. You must be led by the Spirit if you want to walk in power.

Endure temptation

The third tip to walking in power is to endure temptation. Our Lord Jesus Christ was trained in the wilderness as he endured temptation.

He built integrity by obeying the truth even when He was alone; He learned obedience through the many things He suffered; He learnt compassion by facing His own trials.

Sometimes, the temptations and trials are meant to prepare you for what you are about to face in ministry and real life. Temptations harden you for greater exploits.

We don’t take steps of obedience because it is easy, we obey because it is right. It is a blessing to have the ability to endure temptation; those who endure temptation receive the crown of life after they have been tried. So, the third tip to walking in power is to endure temptation.

Fellowship with the Spirit

The fourth life-changing tip to walking in power is fellowshipping with the Spirit. If you want His power, you must love His presence. The presence commands the power. The presence brings down the power. Learning to maintain a sweet fellowship with the Holy Ghost can be life-transforming.

Persevere to fulfil your ministry.

When the Lord returned in the power of the Spirit, He began to work the works of power. When you begin to do the work in your present grace, He will supply what you lack. This is the key to power and strength. Each one of us must strive to fulfil a purpose. As we walk in grace and purpose, we receive more grace and power.

These are the four life-transforming tips to walking in power. You will not fail, you will win. God will be your helper and nothing will stop you.

Be blessed, I love you!

Kofi Simpe
