Finish Well and Strong — Don’t be Unequally Yoked!

[2 Corinthians 6:14 KJV] “Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?”

I want to speak to you today about how to connect for effective results. Hence, the caution not to be unequally yoked!

A yoke is a wooden or iron neck brace used to connect two or more oxen. In ancient civilisations, a yoke was a technology that was used to cause oxen to do work that was too much for just one ox to do. It can, therefore, be seen as a means of harnessing the synergistic strengthens of the oxen.

A yoke, therefore, was used mainly to create synergy. A yoke was used to make oxen more effective at work. After all, one will chase a thousand, and two shall put ten thousand to flight; if their rock gives them up (See Deuteronomy 32:30). Otherwise, five of us shall chase a hundred, and hundred of us put ten thousand to flight (See Leviticus 26:8).

In another context, a yoke was a means of teaching youthful oxen how to walk and work in unison. It was in this context that the Lord Jesus Christ told us to voluntarily take His yoke upon ourselves so that we can learn from Him. This is because His yoke is lighter. The Lord makes a subtle point by this teaching. He is suggesting that you will be taught anyway either by the Lord or by life or the enemy. The best option, however, is to be taught by the LORD.

It is important to state that a yoke is a mean of restricting movement and progress; therefore, there are times when the wicked and the enemy forcefully put a yoke on your neck to control your movement and progress. I speak over your life today that by the anointing, every yoke that the enemy has placed on you to restrict you and to keep you from rising be broken! May every form of captivity that holds you down and prevents you from progressing in life and to better places be broken now in the name of Jesus Christ! May the Lord release an anointing to destroy every evil yoke in the name of Jesus Christ!

Remember, there are good yokes and there are bad yokes; there are yokes you put on yourself and there are yokes others put on you; there are yokes that are important for you to keep on, and there are yokes that must be broken! May you not remain under any yoke that is detrimental to your health, wealth, and worth! Every evil connection must be broken now! Recieve that touch of freedom now!

[Isaiah 10:27 KJV] “And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing”.

You must remember that two cannot walk or work together unless they have been made compatible (See Amos 3:3). Two can both walk and work together effectively only when they have been made compatible; hence, the danger to be unequally yoked with an unbeliever. When you become unequally yoked with an unbeliever, you are either going to become like them; or they will become like you. We, however, know that except in the case of light and darkness; evil always influences good, and not vice versa.

A little poison in a bowl of soup makes the soup poisonous, it doesn’t make the poison soupy. The poison contaminates the soup, the soup doesn’t affect the poison at all. When you become unequally yoked with unbelievers, you end up becoming carnal and fleshy.

So, if you really want to finish well and finish strong, then don’t be unequally yoked together with unbelievers; rather, take the yoke of Christ upon yourself and learn from Him for greater, bigger, better results. Who are your friends? Who do you hang out with? It will make or unmake you.

In summary,  remember that a yoke is a wooden or iron neck brace used to connect two or more oxen together for the following reasons;

  1. To increase output
  2. To teach newer oxen how to walk and work and
  3. To restrict movement

You must, therefore, be careful who you yoke up with, allow the anointing of the  Lord to break every evil yoke; you must take the yoke of the Lord upon yourself!

Many have failed because of bad connections, but you shall not fail!

Be blessed, I love you!
