Ways To Make The Church Attractive

Central Truth

It is easier and smarter to focus on attracting people than merely chasing people. When the church becomes genuinely attractive, people come, stay, belong, grow and invite others.

Scripture

Acts 2:47 KJV
“Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.”

Reflection

The early church was attractive. They were praising God, they had favour with the people, and the Lord added to the church daily.

Notice the pattern: they were not merely chasing people; they were building a community that people wanted to be part of.1

There is nothing wrong with evangelism, invitations, outreach and actively pursuing souls. We must go after the lost.2 But chasing people cannot compensate for an unattractive church experience.

The pastor alone cannot make the church attractive. The team must do it. Workers must do it. Members must do it. Even visitors who have been with us for a while must learn to contribute to the atmosphere.

Every person is part of the church’s welcome, culture and witness.3
