[Psalms 107:17-20 KJV] “Fools because of their transgression, and because of their iniquities, are afflicted. [18] Their soul abhorreth all manner of meat; and they draw near unto the gates of death. [19] Then they cry unto the Lord in their trouble, and he saveth them out of their distresses. [20] He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions”.
I want to exhort you tonight on four simple steps to stay safe and protect yourself in a pandemic or global emergency. As a matter of truth, in a global emergency or pandemic such as this, you will require a lot of wisdom to stay safe and protected. It will take calmness, faith, and wisdom. You don’t have to panic, you must keep hope alive, and walk in wisdom.
What is this wisdom? This wisdom is the one shared by the experts. These are the people who have the right knowledge, hence the need to heed their advice. Rehab had to stay where the two spies told her to stay if she was going to escape the destruction of the city of Jericho. On the night Israel was delivered, they had to stay indoors till the plague was over.
What has the experts said? The experts are simply recommending four simple ways to protect yourself from the Corona Virus:
1. Wash your hands regularly with soap under running water. The case where soap and running water is not readily available, use an alcohol-based sanitizer.
2. Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth with unwashed hands.
3. Practice social distancing and avoid crowded places except it is really necessary.
4. Seek professional help if you have a fever, cough, runny nose, or difficulty in breathing.
Remember that the text above says fools would be punished and afflicted because of their transgressions and iniquity; but when “they cry unto the Lord in their trouble”, He will save them out of their distress. He will send His word and heal them and deliver them from their destruction. There is hope for us. There is hope for the world. We can arise and cry out in our trouble and the Lord will hear us and save us.
