[Nehemiah 4:1-3 KJV] “But it came to pass, that when Sanballat heard that we builded the wall, he was wroth, and took great indignation, and mocked the Jews. [2] And he spake before his brethren and the army of Samaria, and said, What do these feeble Jews? will they fortify themselves? will they sacrifice? will they make an end in a day? will they revive the stones out of the heaps of the rubbish which are burned? [3] Now Tobiah the Ammonite was by him, and he said, Even that which they build, if a fox go up, he shall even break down their stone wall.”
Many of the wickedness and evil on earth today stems from insecurities and intimidations of those who analyse the progress and success of others. There are so many people who resort to wickedness and witchcraft because they feel so insecure and intimidated when they see others progressing and succeeding in life.
Balak sought to curse Israel because he was intimidated and unsettled when he heard about the progress Israel was making. In Numbers 22:11, we learn that he sought to curse them so that he would be able to overcome and drive them away. Most witches resorted to the craft because of fear and insecurity.
Sanballat and Tobiah were filled with indignation when they heard that the Jews were building the wall. The progress and the success of the people intimidated them and made them unsettled.
Why did they seek to kill Our Lord Jesus Christ? They did it because they felt threatened. His progress and success made them insecure and intimidated. The elders of the Jews were afraid. They felt threatened by His influence over the people.
Most often than not people who feel intimidated by your progress and success start with;
- Being angry
- Then they mock
- They begin to misrepresent your motives
- When it does not work, they devise mischief
- They try to make you afraid
- And you still don’t bulge, they try to hire people to trap you
Sanballat and Tobiah are a clear example of this. When the elders of the Jews could not stop Jesus Christ, they misrepresented His motives, trying to make him afraid by saying Herod would kill Him, and finally, they hired Judas to set Him up. They hired people to testify against Him.
I pray for you that you shall escape the scourge of wickedness that abound in the world today. I pray that the Lord shall guide your heart and you will not be taken by surprise.
