I want to exhort you on fulfilling the purpose of your redemption, which is to serve the Lord.
[Exodus 8:1 KJV] “And the Lord spake unto Moses, Go unto Pharaoh, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord , Let my people go, that they may serve me”
Every one of us was redeemed and saved to serve. No one is too young or too old to serve. Age is not a determinant in serving God. Everyone has a role to play. Rhoda had a role and Abraham, at 75 years, also had a role. Every one of us at any point in time has a role to play and a ministry to fulfil.
Serving the Lord involves three things;
- Praying for all men
- Preaching or testifying of the Lord, and
- Providing or giving to meet the needs of others.
Inasmuch as we will pray and preach to the world, it is important to bear in mind that there are some of the people who will have need of provision. The early church sold their lands and gave to the needs of the people.
Many do not even enter the rest of the Lord, let alone to finish the race that is set before them. Many are unable to serve God to the end because they are unable to decide and to leave Egypt behind, go far with God, stand your grounds no matter what, and serve with all they have. I have come to know it is not about being redeemed from Egypt, it’s rather a big deal to make it to the end serving the Lord. After all, many came out of Egypt but many did not make it to Canaan. Out of the over 600, 000 people that came out of Egypt only 2 entered the Promised Land. Let us be careful as we journey; most often than not many did not make it to the end.
Why do many fail to enter? Is it because they don’t have what it takes? No! Everyone that he called, was justified and glorified. We were called and graced and blessed to serve (See Romans 8:28-30). Many fail because they don’t leave Egypt behind, they have not decided to go far, to stand their grounds, and to serve with all they have and are. If you can really finish your race as it is set before you, you must decide to do the following;
1. Leave Egypt behind:
We must leave the world behind. You cannot serve God well with the world within you. You cannot serve God when you love the world, love money, or love sin. You can fulfil your purpose only when you leave the world behind. The Bible says that though many were baptised unto Moses in the Sea, with many of them He was not pleased because they lusted after evil things, they murmured, they ate and rose to play, and they tempted the Lord and fornicated. They loved the world, sin, and money.
2. Go all out for God:
The devil is trying to keep you at the fringes of the faith. He does not want you to go far with God. He wants you to be shallow because he knows that you will whither so easily if you have no roots. So he always tries to persuade you to be shallow and walk on the fringes of the faith. Many have withered because they lacked roots and depth. It is better to taste none if you cannot drink deep. We must be willing and ready to go all out for God. No lukewarmness; you must either be cold or hot. Many don’t prosper because they walk on the fringes.
3. Stand your ground come what may:
You will be part of the few that make it if you decide to stand your grounds come what may. You must not retreat nor surrender. You must resolve to stand your ground, to endure hardship as a good soldier. The Lord took Israel through the long winding road because they were not resolved enough to face the giants.
4. Give all you have to the service of God:
If you don’t resolve to serve the Lord with all you have and are, you will not go very far. God wants you to serve Him with your time, your money, your skills, your intellect. You must be willing and ready to give your all.
I pray for you that you will go far in serving the Lord. You will fulfil the purpose of your redemption.
I love you
