I am assigned to exhort you to understand that faith comes by hearing and actually hearing by the word of God.
[Romans 10:17 KJV] “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
I know that we all agree without a doubt that there is no way a man can receive anything from God, except through prayer that is based on absolute faith.
The Bible instructs that “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.” [James 1:5-7 KJV]
Faith is the key that opens the doors to supernatural supply and help. The Bible teaches that a man that wavers can not receive anything from God. He is like the waves of the sea driven with winds and tossed. Faith is that force that gives stability to the ways of a man.
Many of us are not receiving anything from God because we are not believing. We are not stable. We waver consistently. We are tossed by the winds of life and circumstances.
So, I want to answer one or two questions;
1. What is faith?
Faith, according to Hebrews 11:1, faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen. Therefore, faith is both a substance and an evidence.
Faith is that divine gift which a man receives when he believes the gospel, the Son of God, and the Bible as the only inspired writing that is profitable for instruction in all matters pertaining to life and godliness.
The Bible says “God has dealt to every man the measure of faith.” This means there is a certain measure of faith that God gives to every man.
2. If faith comes by hearing, why do so many people lack it?
There are three possible reasons for this. Either;
- Those who know the word are not speaking, teaching, preaching, and showing true faith.
- Many are not hearing the sound of us that is gone out; or
- There are too many confusing sounds out there.
If there is too much noise, many will find it difficult to hear what is being said. That will stop faith from building. If everyone is saying his own thing, the audience will be confused. That is why when Peter stood to speak on the day of Pentecost, the eleven stood with him, but he spoke. That is why anytime Paul sent Timothy, he only affirmed what Paul teaches in all the churches. The church must have one voice, and the devil knows this so he sends his own people as a mixed multitude to come and confuse our sound. The Bible teaches that by two or three witnesses a matter is established, hence the need to speak as one man speaks.
This is the time to sit at a place where you can hear the sound teachings that will build you up. This is the time for us to open up to the teaching of those who are trained in the things of God to teach the word. God is not a secret to be kept; the gospel is news to be declared and we are declaring that gospel and the word to the nations. This is the time. Let us go out and declare His word. Let us stop sharing fables and start preaching the word.
The gospel is being shouted loud and clear; none of us should ignore the sound. There are many standing in the market square, on the rooftops, at the street corners shouting the gospel in the street. I believe the sound is going out louder than ever before.
This is the time to read your Bible, soak in the podcast, watch the videos, and engage in healthy Bible study. If you joke with the word, you are joking with your destiny. Search the scriptures for yourself. Spend more time in the word.
Limit the noise around you. Stop running after every new prophet in town and start studying the scriptures. Faith comes by hearing, but by the hearing of the Lord. This is the time to seek the Lord in the scriptures. That is how you receive and build up on faith. I have no doubt that this is the time.
Prayer
(Lift up your right hand and say this) Father, I thank You. I bless You. I thank You for the shepherds You have appointed over me. I thank You for Your gift in the church. I bless You for my pastor. I lift my pastor, Your servant before You.
Open a door of utterance unto him. I pray that You shall give him the boldness and courage to declare Your whole counsel to us. I pray that You will give him prophetic precision to declare Your insight and foretell the future.
Give him the tongue of the learned to speak Your word in season to the weary. (Pray aloud)
(Lift up your hands and say this after me) In the name of Jesus! In the mighty name of Jesus! I silence the voice of anything making noise in my ears and mind. I silence the appeal of anything that is trying to fight my conviction in Your word.
From today, I can hear Your voice and Your word loud and clear. I will not be confused. I decree clarity! I will not be confused. When You speak to me, I will hear! When You speak I will discern! I will not miss Your voice. Nothing shall distract me! No truth shall offend me anymore. In the name of Jesus Christ! (Pray aloud now)
(Say after me) Dear God, give me the discipline to seek and run after Your word. Let me hear and discern Your word. Let me not love the world nor anything in it. Let me not believe in vanities and lies. Help me to believe (Pray aloud) Amen!
Stay blessed, I love you
