There is one truth I have been trying to establish so far; that the whole world lies in wickedness and there is a thief our there who is seeking to steal, kill and destroy. The only way we can be safe is when we yield to the commandments of Lord as strangers in the earth (See Psalms 119:19).
[John 10:10 KJV] “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly”.
We are strangers in the earth but God has the wisdom, understanding and counsel that can help us to navigate through this dark and uncertain world.
I have been studying the epistles and I found out that the simple six steps that can help anyone of us to go through life safely and to enjoy the abundant life of God are if we would believe and look for the second coming of the Lord. This means you should;
- Watch and be sober
- Build up yourself on your most Holy faith
- Study to work hard to earn an honest living, to live without lack, and support the weak
- Live your life in circumspection and self control, because the days are evil.
The truth is, each of us must accept the Holy Scriptures as the only book that is profitable for instruction in all matters of faith, godliness, and life (See 2 Timothy 3:15-17). We are strangers in this earth and we need the wisdom and commandment of God to find our way round.
1. Watch and be sober:
Apostle Paul admonishes us to watch and be sober if we are looking for the second coming of Jesus Christ.
2. Build up yourself on your most Holy faith:
The next truth that Apostle Paul emphasizes that will help us to enjoy the abundant life is to build up ourselves in the faith. We must continue in doctrine, fellowship and prayer. Learn to pray without ceasing for yourself, for the mission, for others, and for the missionaries; because all men have not the faith. The gospel must advance and we are the agents. We must continue faithfully in the faith
3. Study to work hard:
The fourth thing Apostle Paul recommends in the books to the Thessalonians is work. He thought in both books that the church must work to be able to live an honest life, have no lack, and support the weak among us. He teaches this doctrine in both books.
4. Learn to live in circumspection and self control:
As we walk in the world and even in the church, we must know that things are not always what they seem. When you are dealing with people, you must be shrewd.
The truth is God is our hope, help and healer. You cannot fail and you must win.
Note: Please read 1st and 2nd Thessalonians for references. This write up is a summary of the two books.
