One key question, many young believers have been asking is, “How do I stay fresh and finish my race in faith?” For me, the answer is simple: “keep coming to church.” I have no doubt that those who keep coming to church will keep their faith fresh and strong.
[Hebrews 10:24-27 KJV] “And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.”
Acts 2:24-47 teaches that those who continued steadfastly in fellowship, in doctrine, and in prayer finished well. Hebrews 10:25 teaches us not to forsake the assembling of ourselves together. The rendering of the instruction suggests that honouring our assembling together will help you to finish well.
The following are simple reasons for this assertion;
- The assembly of the saints is the presence of God; where two or three are gathered in His name, He is there.
- The assembly of the saints is the house of prayer; His house shall be called the house of prayer for all nations.
- The assembly of the saints is the grounds and pillar of truth. This is the place where you are likely to hear the truth that can guide you.
- The assembly of the saints is the church of the living God, mount Zion where there are deliverance and holiness and possessing of possessions.
- Faith, like a soldier’s shield or battle sword, collects dust. One place to have it cleaned and sharpened is in the assembly of the saints. “Iron sharpens iron; man’s countenance sharpens the countenance of His neighbour”.
There are several other reasons why assembling of ourselves together helps us to continue the journey, we shall take a look at them on another day, but I want to restrict myself to these.
I believe that staying in the fellowship of the godly will save you from addictions, perversion, and sin. I have no doubt that God is able and will keep you standing. This is the key that will keep us going strong.
I love you, stay blessed, and don’t forsake the assembling of ourselves together.
