I have been teaching and studying the text below for some time now, and I believe that one of the blessings that are released by the outpouring of the Holy Ghost which the church has taken for granted is the blessings of dreams and visions.
The prophet Joel was quoted by Apostle Peter on the day of the outpouring and revealed that dreams and visions are a major feature that will characterize the presence of the Holy Ghost in and with us.
[Acts 2:16-17 KJV] “But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel; And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:”
He reveals that our young men and women shall see visions and the old men and women shall dream dreams.
Dreams and visions, as we know, are a universal language and tool by which God;
- Reveals Himself and the true nature of things or places or people to us.
- Informs us of things
- Directs our choices and actions.
We understand from Numbers 12:6, that God makes Himself known through dreams and visions to prophets. God uses dreams and visions to reveal the true nature and state of people and places as well.
Jacob knew the house of God by a dream. The true state of Luz was revealed. He slept on the stone as just any stone, but after dreaming and seeing angels ascending and descending, he changed his opinion of that place. (See Genesis 28:10-21). May the Lord reveal things to you in dreams and visions
In Genesis 41, we understand jow the Pharaoh was informed about what the future of the world will be for the next 14 years. Through a dream, God informed the Pharaoh. He did not direct him as to what to do but he informed him about what was about to happen.
A purpose of dreams and visions is to inform.
In the text below, we also understand that God may direct and influence our choices and decisions by dreams. He may show us a dream to withdraw us from death.
[Job 33:14-17 KJV] “For God speaketh once, yea twice, yet man perceiveth it not. In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falleth upon men, in slumberings upon the bed; Then he openeth the ears of men, and sealeth their instruction, That he may withdraw man from his purpose, and hide pride from man.”
I have no doubt that God will continue to speak to us through dreams and visions.
Stay blessed,
