[2 Samuel 6:12 KJV]“And it was told king David, saying, The Lord hath blessed the house of Obed–edom, and all that pertaineth unto him, because of the ark of God. So David went and brought up the ark of God from the house of Obed–edom into the city of David with gladness.”
The ark
I want to exhort you on the need to bring back the ark. The ark is the symbol and token of the glory of a people, place, or thing. It is important to understand that there are tokens that represent or symbolize the glory of a people or place. Sometimes, we lose this token for some reasons; but there comes a time when we need to arise and restore the beauty of the people.
In the case of the Hebrews, it was the ark of covenant. That was the token and symbol of beauty and glory. This is because the ark represented God’s presence among them. There was a time when the ark was lost in battle. The Philippines took the ark and glory of Israel away in battle in the days of Eli. However, in the days of David, the king decided to lead the people to restore the ark to its place. This is the story in 2 Samuel 6 which we need to study.
I believe we must sit down and meditate to discover the one thing that imputes beauty on us or into our service or our relationship or our ministry. We must be committed to restoring the glory to its place.
This is our year of walking in the restored glory. May we be committed to restoring the tokens of glory. Sometimes, the token of glory in your life was your love, prayer life, commitment to church, humility, etc. Let us arise and restore the ark.
Restoring the Glory
Remember, we can restore the token of glory when we do the following;
1. We must hear, believe, and decide to act on the report:
David restored the ark because he decided. He heard, believed, and acted on the report. Many of us fail to do what brings back the glory because we make excuses.
When we learn of the prosperity of others; instead of celebrating, and learning from them, we rather malign them. Many pastors of small churches remain small because they ascribe wrong reasons to the breakthrough of megachurches.
2. We must be willing and ready and able to sacrifice.
When the king attempted to restore the glory, he sacrificed bulls after every six steps. It is not so easy to restore the lost glory. It will require some sacrifice and we must be ready to make this effort. We must be ready to give and sacrifice to restore the ark.
3. We must also understand the principles that govern the protocols of the ark.
You cannot establish your own protocols. Everything has its unique protocols. You cannot ignore the protocols and expect the glory. There is a way to go about everything; respect it. When Israel disrespected the protocols they lost two priests!
4. We must avoid strife and foolish questions.
Don’t answer back when men despise you. When Michal despised David, he could have answered back; but that would have marred the beauty of the occasion. But when David kept quiet God answered for him. The battle is the Lord’s!
Stay blessed.
Amen
I am truly blessed Man of God. I pray that God increase your desire to serving Him.
