[Zechariah 4:8-10 KJV] “Moreover the word of the Lord came unto me, saying, The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this house; his hands shall also finish it; and thou shalt know that the Lord of hosts hath sent me unto you.”
“For who hath despised the day of small things? for they shall rejoice, and shall see the plummet in the hand of Zerubbabel with those seven; they are the eyes of the Lord, which run to and fro through the whole earth.”
Introduction
I want to exhort you not to despise the days of small beginnings. There is nothing big thing that starts big. No man climbs a tree from the top. You always begin to climb from the base.
We can reach that place of difficulty when we may be frustrated by the slow pace of development. There are times when the progress we were making seems to stall. We see this in the building of the house of the Lord in the days of Zerubbabel. The man Zerubbabel was a leader of the Hebrews who was leading them to build the house of God.
At a point, the project halted and they were not making progress. All the people had gotten discouraged and many had begun to despise the project. It does happen when people get discouraged and begin to despise the work of God. This will lead to the withdrawal of resources and commitment.
I have been there as a lead pastor when at a point people got discouraged and began to withdraw. People despised my work in mission and did not think it was worth it to make any sacrifices anymore.
They began to despise the days of small things; but I encouraged myself with the words of the prophet Zachariah, “who has despised the days of small things”. We may not have seen great things but we will not despise the days of small things.
I have decided not to despise the days of small things. This is because;
- Anythings the Lord has blessed shall surely grow.
- It does not have to be big to be good; if it is good, it will grow big.
- No man climbs a tree from the top. Our beginning may be small but our end shall greatly increase. Every big thing starts small.
- Indeed, there is a time appointed for every vision. In the end, it shall speak for itself. This vision will speak for itself. Your vision will speak. Don’t give up
Our hands shall finish this and those who see it shall rejoice in the Lord because he has done it.
Don’t despise the days of small things. Don’t despise what God is doing among us now, rather, let us arise and build. Let us arise and;
- Pray earnestly
- Plan wisely
- Pursue with passion and diligence
Stay blessed,
