I want to encourage the church to arise to prayer and there are 10 different instances when pray is necessary:

  1. Morning, noon, evening
  2. When you have an earnest desire
  3. When you feel anxious
  4. When you are afflicted
  5. When you want to build up your self
  6. When you are invited by the sick
  7. When you are served food
  8. When you have a major decision to make
  9. When you can’t find the word in your life.
  10. When you don’t think there is a need to pray

These are 10 times when prayer is recommended.

Daily Devotional Prayers

In Psalm 5:3, the psalmist said, “in the morning, my voice would thou hear.” In Matthew 6:9-13, we are encouraged to pray for the following reasons;

  1. To build a relationship with the Father
  2. That the kingdom of God (righteousness, peace, and Joy in the Holy Ghost) will come,
  3. That the will of God will be done
  4. That we shall find our daily bread
  5. We will be both delivered and led away from trouble
  6. Be forgiven as we forgive others.

1. Morning, Noon and Night

These are daily devotional prayers. This is the quiet time prayers. These are daily prayers I recommend for everyone. These are prayers you ought to pray even when there is nothing to say.

2. Prayer of faith

The second type of prayer is the prayer of faith. Mark 11:23-24 teaches that “whatsoever we desire when we pray, we should believe we have it and it shall be ours.”

These are faith prayers – Whatever-you-desire prayers. You just have to desire it and you can pray about it. The Bible teaches that if anyone of us shall desire anything and pray about it in faith, we shall have it. I believe this is the time to set aside time and just pray. We must pray intensely and spend time praying about the things we desire.

3. Afflictions

The third reason for prayer is when any one of us is afflicted. Affliction has a way of impacting our thinking and emotions and psyche; only prayer holds the key to soothe the pain and offer solutions without side effects.

The Bible, in James, recommends praying as a solution for Affliction. “Is any afflicted? let him pray!” (See James 5:13) Whenever you are going through pain and afflictions; learn to pray. Pray and pray intensely!

4. Anxiety

The fourth reason for praying is when you feel anxious. Philippians 4:6 teaches us to be anxious for nothing; rather in all things by prayer and supplication, we should make our request known.

The truth is, you should not allow anything to steal your peace or joy or righteousness; you should learn to pray about everything that tries to steal your peace and joy and righteousness.

5. To build up your spirit

The fifth reason for prayer is to build up the spirit man. To build up yourself on your most holy faith. That is the greatest argument for prayer. There are times when we must just spend time with God in prayer to build the spirit or inner man.

6. When invited by the sick

The sixth reason for prayer is when you are invited by the sick. If any is sick, let them call the elders who will pray the prayer of faith that will raise the sick and forgive them.

7. When served food

The seventh critical time to pray is when you are served food. Your meals are sanctified by the giving of thanks. You must pray over every meal before eating.

8. Before making major decisions

You need to pray earnestly when you are about to make major decisions. God is the only one who can guide you in the making of major decisions.

9. To see the manifestation of God’s word

I must also say that if you are entitled to the manifestation of the word of God. You must see the word of God manifest in your life. Whatever God has said must manifest in your life. You must see it happen as it is written. Daniel prayed when he read the prophecy of Jeremiah. He prayed for the total manifestation. You must also pray until the word is manifested.

10. When you don’t feel the need to pray

Finally, it very important to start praying when you think there is no need to pray earnestly. Any time you think there is no need to pray, that is the time to pray. You need to pray when you feel prayer is not important.

May the Lord help us to walk in this revelation!

Be blessed
