We know that God looks at the heart but men look on the outward. The truth remains that you are both a king and priest unto God. We serve God by serving others. We must, therefore, consider others when we think about serving them. They will always look on the outward; therefore how we appear to them will matter much since they look on the outward.
Whenever you dress up ask yourself a few questions:
1. Does my appearance reflect who I am as a child of God?
We are children of God; we are kings and priests; we must dress to appear as Kings and priests.
2. Is my appearance decent enough:
Would people I encounter think of me as a decent person?
3. Is my appearance modest
Modesty is the master key. We must dress as workers of righteousness. What you wear and how you appear matters a lot.
4. Does my appearance reflect who I worship:
People of certain religions wear certain clothes and colours and styles to show what they believe. Does your appearance communicate your faith. In many instances, dressing is an act of worship.
The fetish priest in many cultures does not wear dreadlocks because it is fashion; he or she wears it as an act of worship to their gods, which are, in fact, demons. Samson did not wear locks as fashion, he wore the locks as a covenant with God.
5. Will what I am wearing adore my body?
What you wear must flatter your body. Your clothes must adore your body. I have no doubt that God wants you to look nice in your clothes. You must look nice and not seductive nor provocative.
6. Will what you are wearing protect you from the harsh environment?
Our clothing is supposed to protect us from the environment and other elements of the weather.
Stay blessed
