[1 Corinthians 12:8-11 KJV] “For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; to another the working of miracles;”
“to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: but all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will”
The Bible encourages us to desire spiritual gifts among the many things we desire and crave for. There are many spiritual gifts but Apostle Paul, in 1 Corinthians 12, mentions only nine of them;
- Supernatural wisdom
- Supernatural knowledge
- Gift of faith
- Gifts of healing
- Working miracles, the doing of mighty works
- Prophecy – Inspired utterances
- Discerning of spirits
- Divers kinds of tongues
- Interpretation of tongues (signs, omens, languages)
These are nine related supernatural endowments that can transform the church and the world if we have them and engage them. These are supernatural endowments given by the Lord to transform His church. The problem, however, is that we are not hungry enough to lay hold on them.
I believe that gifts like supernatural wisdom, supernatural knowledge, and discerning of spirit can transform and make the church smart. These three gifts makes the church smart and helps us to operate at a higher level of smartness. These three gifts can transform a generation. They bring change and transformation.
The gifts of healing, faith, and the workings of miracles empower the church for greater works and exploits. These are action gifts given to the body for exploits. I pray for the outpouring of these gifts upon the church in these last days.
Finally, the gifts of prophecy, diverse tongues, and interpretation of tongues are given for supernatural communication. These are the gifts that help us to communicate with God and with each other.
I pray that you shall receive grace to function. Four simple tips to receiving these gifts are;
- Have a wise heart
- Pray that the Lord will endow you with grace and the gifts
- Have hands laid on you
- Sit at the feet of great teachers
Let us strive to receive these great gifts for greater results and greater works. We need these gifts and we must strive to receive them.
