I want to speak about what we ought to have been doing without ceasing, prayer! Sometimes, I wonder why we don’t pray. When I read the New Testament, there is only one thing that we are told to never cease doing; “pray with ceasing.”
[1 Thessalonians 5:17 KJV] “Pray without ceasing.”
God wants us to pray as the breath of our lives. God wants us to do this one thing for effective living. The Bible teaches that we ought to pray without ceasing; unfortunately, many of us hardly even pray!
Is it possible to pray without ceasing? The answer is yes! The Bible tells us about a widow by name of, Anna; who fasted and prayed for over eight decades without leaving the church! We can learn the same.
[Luke 2:37 KJV] “and she was a widow of about fourscore and four years, which departed not from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day.”
You can really pray without ceasing;
- With the help of the Holy Spirit (See Romans 8:26)
- By making a decision
- By praying with desire and faith
- By revelation
This is the time that men must pray without ceasing. The Bible says “And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;” (Luke 18:1 KJV). There is no middle ground; you are either praying or playing. You will lose the battle against sin and devils if you don’t pray!
The word says “Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak”. (Matthew 26:41 KJV). There is no way you can do what God is putting in your heart; if you are not praying. You can be as willing as you want; you can only discharge it if you are praying!
It is important to understand that prayer is your secret to stay above the debilitating effect of affliction! “Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms” (James 5:13 KJV). We ought to pray without ceasing.
Remember, there are certain things you can not deal with except you learn to pray without ceasing! “Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.” (Matthew 17:21 KJV)
Stay blessed
