Today’s message is for us to be patient and not rush the process.
[1 Peter 5:5-11 KJV] “Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. [6] Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:”
[7] “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. [8] Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: [9] Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.”
[10] “But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you. [11] To him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.“
One of the biggest challenges that can fight the gains we have made as a church is the challenge of pride; rushing the process. Pride is a subtle beast that can wreck our sail to growth.
Many younger ministers are always tempted to think that they have some kind of superior knowledge and understanding. Most often, the wise of the wise look too feeble to the young! I pray that we will be patient in waiting for the due season of the Lord.
When we learn to wait for the due season, we will be promoted by God. You don’t have to scheme your way to the top; you just have to learn how to be clothed with humility and God will promote you in due season. This is the simple secret to promotion and exaltation. If you want to be promoted in due season, then humble yourself; be clothed with humility!
The Bible encourages us to;
- Humble ourselves to the elder
- Be subject one to another
- Be clothed with humility
- Humble ourselves under the mighty hand of God
These are the four dimensions required of us as ministers: to be subject to elders, one another, to God, and to be clothed upon by humility; this is is so that God will exalt us in due season. There is a due season for promotion; many of us fail woefully because we rush the process. Many of the times we rush the process; we grow too proud too quickly. We seem to have become bosses too quickly and that is why we fail.
I pray for every one of you to be humble. Let us learn to put others before us. Let us learn to honour the wisdom of others. Let’s walk with humility. There is nothing you can do to rush the process without compromising the quality of the results. When you rush the ripening of fruits, they rot sooner than later!
Wise up
