My message to you today is on the fundamentals of effective prayer.
[Matthew 6:9-13 KJV] “After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.”
“Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.”
Every good prayer has four fundamental parts:
- Acknowledging the existence of your father in heaven who is the source and sustainer of all life. “He that comes to the Lord must know that God is real and He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”
- Praying about things He likes; His kingdom and His will and His righteousness
- Praying about things you need: your daily bread, forgiveness, guidance and deliverance from evil in the world.
- Acknowledging that “the kingdom, power and the glory” belongs to God.
Whenever you are called upon to pray, remember to pray for;
- Kingdom advancement
- Your daily bread; things we need for sustenance.
- Your forgiveness; especially our relationship with others.
- Your guidance
- Your deliverance from evil in the world
We must both begin and end our prayer acknowledging that God is real and that He is the source and sustainer of all things. We must acknowledge that both the kingdom, the power, and the glory belongs to God.
