[Mark 11:22-26 KJV] “And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.”
“Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.”
Faith that moves mountains is;
- Based on the word of God
- Speaks what it believe and not what it sees
- Looks up to Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith
- Remains resolute even in the face of contrary evidence
It is important to remind ourselves that faith comes by hearing and hearing the word of God; we can, therefore, build great faith when we learn to hear the word of God. Now there are a few barriers that could prevent us from hearing and hearing by the word of God.
It is so easy to hear by gossip, grapevine, talebearers, the social media, by drama and sitcoms and satire; but it is so difficult to hear by the word of God. The few barriers that could stop you from the hearing are:
- What you know or think about the preacher: What the Jews knew about Jesus in the natural barred them from receiving
- Witchcraft and wizardry: Bar Jesus tried to turn Sergius Paulus from the truth
- Demonic and satanic blindness: The god of this age blinds those who are deceived from perceiving, lest the glorious light of the gospel should shine unto them.
- The language of communication: There are times when we cannot hear the word because of the language that is spoken.
- Immaturity: When you are dull at the hearing, you cannot hear mature things
- Carnality: The Bible says spiritual things are spiritually discerned.
- Inability to endure sound doctrine: Many have turned aside and given heed to doctrines of devils.
If you allow any of these things to get in the way, they will impede your ability to build faith that moves mountains. There is no other way to build faith except by hearing and hearing the word of God. Hence;
- Know no man after the flesh. Receive your preacher as one who speaks the oracle of God.
- Search the Scriptures to see whether what was preached or taught is so, not the background of the preacher. Our frame of reference is the scriptures and not the lifestyle of the preacher. That is not to say that the preacher should live anyhow but this is to exhort you to be able to build your faith.
- Pray that God will enlighten your understanding and cause you to hear and see His word well.
- Disconnect from people who don’t allow you to hear by faith.
- Determine to use the word you first heard and grow.
- Become spiritual; set your love and affection on things that are heavenly and you will be able to receive the word
- Endure sound doctrine.
It is possible to build mountain-moving faith. You can excel and move mountains and barriers that confront you!
Stay blessed
