[Daniel 11:32 KJV] “And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits”
We understand that the secret to waxing strong and acting valiantly in the face of afflictions and persecutions is knowing God on a personal level. We have all come to serve God and not a man. We must therefore strive to know God.
How do I know God on a personal level?
The first secret to knowing God on a personal level is to believe that God exists and that He is the rewarder of those who diligently seek Him; Hebrews 11:6 emphasizes this truth. Until you can believe that there is God and He is real, he will not reward you with a revelation of himself. Your hearts and minds must admit that there is God and that he rewards those who diligently seek him.
The second step is to count all earthly confidence as dung. If you worship anything else, it will weaken your faith in God. Anything that you value as great will make God look small in your heart and eyes. God diminishes when we exalt earthly and fleshy achievements.
“Though I might also have confidence in the flesh. If any other man thinketh that he hath whereof he might trust in the flesh, I more: circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew of the Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee; concerning zeal, persecuting the church; touching the righteousness which is in the law, blameless.” “But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ, and be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith: that I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;
Philippians 3:4-10 KJV
God required Abraham to forsake his country and kindred if he could walk with God. Our father Abraham had to show that his confidence was not in Isaac, his only son. Anything you can not sacrifice will make God look small in your eyes.
The third secret is to admit that though the Bible is the revelation of God to other men and women; It is the basis on which further revelation of Himself will be premised. Whatever we read in the Bible is what God revealed about Himself to others, but it is the place where revelation begins. Even if God will further reveal Himself to you; you must study and believe His previous dealings with the men and women of old. The Bible is the book of foundations; further revelation will be premised on that. (See Romans 15:1-4)
The written scriptures are the most authentic reference to weigh any prophecy or revelation. You must weigh any new revelation in the light of the Scriptures. Until you can believe Noah built an ark that could hold two of every beast and bird, you are not ready for fresh revelation.
The fourth secret to knowing God on a personal level is to be open to hearing him for yourself. The Holy Spirit is given as a comforter and teacher to lead us into all truth. Be open to hearing his voice. He is speaking in the church and the streets. God is still speaking and you may listen to Him. He speaks by prophecy, by dreams, by vision, and by the Scriptures. Strive to catch a personal revelation of Him.
The fifth secret to knowing God on a personal level is to pray that God will show himself to you. Pray and desire to know Him. Pray that you want to see Him. Pray and sing about the fact you want God to show you His glory. Show us Your glory.
Three things you must strive to know
- Strive to know Him: His person, His purpose, His manner of life, His thoughts, His ways
- Strive to know His power that resurrection and restore things
- Strive to know the fellowship of His sufferings. Do you know what Jesus went through to save you? When you get to know it you will be tolerant towards it herself you are trying to reach. You must know and understand the suffering of the Lord; until you don’t even mind dying as He did.
When you get to know God …
- You will know that He is not just able but also faithful. He said, “I will never leave nor forsake you…”
- You will know that “He calls the things that be not as though they were.”
- You will know that “He makes all things beautiful in its time.” God always has a set time, an opportune time, and a perfect time.
- You will know that “He can save with few and with a multitude.” Remember that numbers don’t limit God; He is God all by Himself.
- You will know that He does not force anyone to follow and serve Him. You are a free agent.
Let us arise and strive to know God as never before. Bless you!
I love you
