[1 Corinthians 12:1-3 KJV] “Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant. Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away unto these dumb idols, even as ye were led. Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.“
The danger of being ignorant of spiritual gifts is the tendency and temptation to return to dumb idols. Many believers still consult mediums and wizards to understand life; this is because we are ignorant of the spiritual gifts we can access. Apostle Paul was committed not to leave the church in Corinth in their ignorance.
It is important to understand that;
There are many spiritual gifts, administration, and operations that has been given to the church:
There is every spirit gift you need or may need in the church. It is not important and expedient for you to consult with the children of darkness on anything. We have sharper and deeper graces in the church!
“And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.”
“For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; to another the working of miracles;”
“to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: but all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.” (1 Corinthians 12:5-11 KJV)
God will give the best gift to those who ask Him:
He will give the Holy Spirit to them that ask Him! Ask and you shall recieve the Holy Spirit. You can pray and ask Him to anoint you!
“If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?” (Luke 11:13 KJV)
Spiritual gifts can be imparted:
You can recieve spiritual gifts through impartation and the laying of hands. Apostle Paul purposefully wanted to travel to Rome that he may impart some spiritual gifts.
“For I long to see you, that I may impart unto you some spiritual gift, to the end ye may be established; that is, that I may be comforted together with you by the mutual faith both of you and me.” (Romans 1:11-12 KJV)
The gift of God can not be bought with money:
You recieve it when you share in the ministry.
“And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles’ hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money, saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost. But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money. Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter: for thy heart is not right in the sight of God.” (Acts 8:18-21 KJV)
You can desire and covet earnestly the best gifts:
The ease with which you recieve spiritual gifts depends on the depth of your hunger. You must hungry for it if you want it that bad.
“But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.” (1 Corinthians 12:31 KJV)
“Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy.” (1 Corinthians 14:1 KJV)
The gifts and callings of God are without repentance:
God could reject you but not take His gifts from you. His presence will however not stay with workers of iniquity. We don’t have eternal security as far as the gifts and callings are concerned.
“As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes: but as touching the election, they are beloved for the fathers’ sakes. For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.” (Romans 11:28-29 KJV)
No matter, how gifted you are, seek to edify the church above all things:
Your gifts must build the body of Christ.
“Even so ye, forasmuch as ye are zealous of spiritual gifts, seek that ye may excel to the edifying of the church.” (1 Corinthians 14:12 KJV)
Stay blessed
