[1 Samuel 15:16-17 KJV] “Then Samuel said unto Saul, Stay, and I will tell thee what the LORD hath said to me this night. And he said unto him, Say on. And Samuel said, When thou wast little in thine own sight, wast thou not made the head of the tribes of Israel, and the LORD anointed thee king over Israel?“
When it comes serving God there are four great dangers, if you truly believe that God can raise any zero to hero;
- Don’t write yourself off; whatever you have in your hand is all God needs to start with.
- Don’t get puffed up; be sober, don’t think of yourself too highly
- Don’t look down on others; don’t look down on anyone or anything.
- Don’t burn out and be discouraged; don’t be discouraged, God is in control
These are two dangerous approaches to serving God. You should neither write yourself off, thinking you are nothing God can use; nor be puffed up thinking that nothing will move without you. God is an expert in raising zeros into heroes.
Most often, we get puffed up when God lifts us and begins to use us for His glory:
Many of us are unable to stay humble, this was the story of Saul; he got puffed up because of his promotion and treated lightly the Rock if his Salvation, like Jeshurun. Before you get puffed up always remember that God can raise any zero into a hero. When Saul became puffed up, God raised David, from following the sheep to leading His people. God chose someone who was not a prime choice and made him a hero.
When Elijah became discouraged, burnt out and started murmuring, God told him of 7000 who had not bowed to baal; he sent him to go and anoint three men to minister in his stead. God always have men on stand-by; God is never short of men and will never be short of men.
[1 Kings 19:18 KJV] “Yet I have left me seven thousand in Israel, all the knees which have not bowed unto Baal, and every mouth which hath not kissed him.“
God is never short of men; in fact, He can raise sons out of stones. Don’t become too pompous; not become too inferior in your own eyes; God is able to out of these stones raise up sons for Abraham.
God can never be short of men, because He can raise any zero to be a hero. Don’t write yourself off, neither hide your talent; The servant who hid His one talent was severely punished for his wickedness. Your gift, no matter how small or big is meant to serve God in the church and in the mission field.
Everyone of the zeros God turned heroes were men who took a hold of the promise and worked it out. They believed and honoured the prophetic word. God is gracious and will repeat it again. Whenever God gets ready to do a new thing, He engages certain processes.
There are five processes of grace that God uses to raise zeros to heroes
- God takes notice of a man (fore-knowledge): Listen, the eyes of the Lord are moving to and fro in all the earth. God is watching; He trust those who are faith in little and unholy mammon with much and true riches. God took notice of David as he kept his father’s flock. God took notice of Moses as he kept Jethro’s flock. God is watching us!
- God predestines: He pre-arranges that you will become as His Son.
- God calls and justifies: When God calls He justifies and glorifies. I see God qualifying someone tonight in the name of Jesus
[Romans 8:28-34 KJV] “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.”
“Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified. What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?”
“He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that justifieth. Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.”
God bless you!
