In today’s message, I want to discuss 7 laws of tarrying with you.
[Luke 24:44-53 KJV] “And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.”
“Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, and said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. And ye are witnesses of these things.“
“And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high. And he led them out as far as to Bethany, and he lifted up his hands, and blessed them. And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven. And they worshipped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy: and were continually in the temple, praising and blessing God. Amen.“
The instruction that birthed the church is the same that will sustain and grow her: Tarry until you are endued with power with power from on high.
The law of emptiness or hunger or burden
And he said unto them, Can ye make the children of the bridechamber fast, while the bridegroom is with them?
Luke 5:34 KJV
Tarry yield the best results when we come in with deep hunger and desire. You must be hungry enough to drink more than enough. You must be willing to drink and desire for more.
Your soul must seek after the Lord as the deer pants for water. You must be really hungry to tarry long. You can’t make the children in a bridechamber fast when the bridegroom is with them.
“As the hart panteth after the water brooks, So panteth my soul after thee, O God” (Psalm 42:1 KJV)
The law of maximising spiritual moments, time, and a desire to seek mixed wine and deeper depths
To tarry is to sit, settle, hover, and hang around; if you dont have time to wait, you are not ready to tarry. Tarrying require the investment of time. They were to wait until they had been endued. We must be ready to invest time into enjoying the presence of God.
[Proverbs 23:29-35 KJV] “Who hath woe? Who hath sorrow? Who hath contentions? Who hath babbling? Who hath wounds without cause? Who hath redness of eyes? They that tarry long at the wine; They that go to seek mixed wine.“
“Look not thou upon the wine when it is red, When it giveth his colour in the cup, When it moveth itself aright. At the last it biteth like a serpent, And stingeth like an adder.”
“Thine eyes shall behold strange women, And thine heart shall utter perverse things. Yea, thou shalt be as he that lieth down in the midst of the sea, Or as he that lieth upon the top of a mast.”
“They have stricken me, shalt thou say, and I was not sick; They have beaten me, and I felt it not: When shall I awake? I will seek it yet again.“
You will not experience the deep influences of the Holy Ghost until you are willing to seek, tarry long, and seek deeper.
The law of purpose and understanding
The early church entered the Upper room with understanding and a purpose to be quiet until they are endued with power from on high.
Whenever you choose to tarry, you must understand why you are there. There is a purpose for every stirring. God knows why He called us to gather, let us keep to that purpose.
The law of obedience
You must be ready to obey what He tells you. We must be a listening church. We must be a doing church. We must be willing to do what He says.
“Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and shew my people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins. Yet they seek me daily, and delight to know my ways, as a nation that did righteousness, and forsook not the ordinance of their God: they ask of me the ordinances of justice; they take delight in approaching to God” (Isaiah 58:1-2 KJV)
The law of ministering at the altar of prayer
We must minister to the Lord at the altar of prayer. You must be willing to pray, and fast, and worship.
“Now there were in the church that was at Antioch certain prophets and teachers; as Barnabas, and Simeon that was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen, which had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul. As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them. And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.” (Acts 13:1-3 KJV)
And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, being forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days he did eat nothing: and when they were ended, he afterward hungered (Luke 4:1-2 KJV)
The law of endurance
Stay blessed!
I just stumbled into this well of wisdom when I pondered about how to tarry in GOd’s presence. Thanks be to God.
