How to pray for a right spirit within you

How do you pray for the right spirit within you? Today’s devotional is on how to pray for the Lord to renew a right spirit within you.

[Psalm 51:10‭-‬11 KJV] “Create in me a clean heart, O God; And renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from thy presence; And take not thy holy spirit from me.”

In Psalm 51, David prayed asking God to renew a right spirit within him. There are many times when our spirits get contaminated by the dust of everyday life and living. I believe this is one of such times when each one of us must sit down and appraise his own life. We must sit and take stock to see if we are manifesting the right spirit.

From time to time, each of us must find time to assess whether we are on the right track or not. We must assess whether our actions reflect the right spirit or not. When you find our that your actions do not reflect a man or woman within whom the right spirit dwells, then it is time to go down on your knees to ask God to renew your spirit. One of the things that can happen to us as we wait on God is to recieve a renewal. Pray that God will renew a right spirit within you.

I want to share with you 7 features of the right spirit, that spirit of Christ:

“And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots: and the Spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD; and shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears: but with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked” (Isaiah 11:1‭-‬4 KJV)

Godliness

The first sign that you have the right spirit is godliness. You must pray that God will renew the spirit of godliness in you.

Wisdom

We must pray for wisdom. The people with the right spirit demonstrate wisdom.

Understanding

The right spirit will make you of quick understanding. You will understanding things supernaturally when you have the right spirit.

Counsel

Being able to both offer and recieve counsel is a feature of having the right spirit. “Stubbornness is as the sin of witchcraft“; the ability to recieve counsel is a feature of the spirit of Christ.

Mighty

Those who have the right spirit recieve power and might. You will become mighty and great in the land when you have the right spirit.

Knowledge

Those with the right spirit increase in knowledge. Jannes and Jambre opposed Moses because they were learning but never can eto the knowledge of the truth. It takes the right spirit to learn and increase in knowledge.

The fear of the Lord

Those with the right spirit have the fear of the Lord. They show reverence for God; They tremble at the word of God. Pharaoh questioned the authority of God because he did not have the right spirit. When you have the spirit of God, you tremble at His word.
