[1 Corinthians 13:10-11 KJV] “But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away. When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.“
Maturity is a decision. You must acknowledge that you have grown and now there is a need to put away childish things and embrace matured things. Maturity is a decision.
“Of whom we have many things to say, and hard to be uttered, seeing ye are dull of hearing. For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.”
“For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.” (Hebrews 5:11-14 KJV)
When the church matures;
1. The pastor can teach more matured, deeper, and spiritual things:
Both Apostle Paul and our Lord Jesus had more to teach but the people of their day could not recieve the doctrine because they were dull at hearing. When the church matures, the pulpit is able to teach on more spiritual things. The church can only feed on meat when she matures. She must be warned from the breast.
2. The church can raise more teachers:
The ultimate goal of every pastor is to raise more teachers and partners and team to advance the kingdom agenda of soulwinning and church planting. The only way to raise more teachers is to strive for maturity.
3. The church will be able to discern good from evil; no church grows when the member must be micromanaged:
You should mature until you know what to do, when to do it, and how to go about it. You must grow until you can discern good from evil even by your senses.
“till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: that we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;”
“but speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: from whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.” (Ephesians 4:13-16 KJV)
4. We become stable and not tossed about by every wind of doctrine:
Striving to mature will make our church stable. We will not be tossed about by every wind of doctrine.
5. We will escape the sleight and cunning craftiness of men who lie in wait to decieve:
There are so many people who are lurking in the dark waiting for the opportune time to hit on you. Maturity will help you to escape the sleight of men and the cunning craftiness of those who lie in wait to decieve.
Stay blessed
