Jeremiah 4:3-4 KJV — “For thus saith the LORD to the men of Judah and Jerusalem, “Break up your fallow ground, and do not sow among thorns.” [4] Circumcise yourselves to the LORD, and remove the foreskins from your hearts, you men of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem, lest my fury come forth like fire and burn so that none can quench it because of the evil of your doings.”
There are several categories of thorns, those that grow in your life, such as persecutions, infirmity, distresses, reproaches, and necessities, and those that grow and fester in your heart: cares of life, lust for other things, pride of life, and deceitfulness of riches. All of these, if left unattended, hinder the ability of God’s word to bear fruit in you.
The first category hinders your fruitfulness and productivity in life, and the second hinders the ability of God’s word to produce fruit and testimonies in your life. These weedy thorns, when allowed to flourish and grow, tend to choke the word of God.
Beware of how you allow things like anxieties and cares of life, lust for other things, deceitfulness of riches, and the pride of life to influence your heart.
Mark 4:7 KJV — ” And some fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked it, and it yielded no fruit. [18] And these are they which are sown among thorns; those who hear the word, [19] and the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts for other things entering in, choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.”
The human heart is deceitful above all things. The human heart is depraved and can lead you astray. Let us arise and begin to work tirelessly to be fruitful. Arise and circumcise your hearts. Remove the excesses and see God work things for you.
Prayer points:
Father, let your doctrine distill as dew upon my heart, my family, and my household. Make my children wiser by the scriptures unto salvation! Give us the heart of the wise to discern and know your word. I rebuke every bird of the air, Satan’s power that will try to steal the word from our hearts. I decree that any bird that tries to steal the word from the heart of my children, must die!
Now, as I lift my voice and pray, any situation, scheme, and orchestrations to cause anxiety, panic attacks, alarms in my heart this year, must die! I command the peace of God that surpasses understanding to keep my heart and mind in the name of Jesus! I am too blessed to be stressed!
Say with me: Now, I uproot any thorns that might manifest as pride, deceitfulness of riches, and uncontrollable craving for other things! I invoke the fire to consume these thorns! Oh God, purge my heart of any love for the world! Purge it with the refiner’s fire and the fuller’s soap! Make me a holy sanctuary you can use!
Declare boldly: I disconnect my family from any association that can derail the word of God in our lives. My children cannot be misled! My spouse cannot be misled! I cannot be misled! The word of God shall prosper in my life! May the word of God flourish and yield miracles and testimonies in my life!
I declare that the word of God shall flourish and prosper in my life! No word of God that comes to me, whether from Bible study or through my pastor, shall return void. The word of God shall accomplish its purpose in my life. I will never lack bread for eating nor seed for sowing. I receive understanding and grace to excel!
