Acts 10:4 KJV — And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God.
Matthew 26:10-13 KJV — When Jesus understood it, he said unto them, Why trouble ye the woman? for she hath wrought a good work upon me. [11] For ye have the poor always with you; but me ye have not always.
[12] For in that she hath poured this ointment on my body, she did it for my burial. [13] Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached in the whole world, there shall also this, that this woman hath done, be told for a memorial of her.
A memorial is something (such as a monument or ceremony) that honors a person who has died or serves as a reminder of an event in which many people died. It serves to preserve the memory of someone’s heroic action.
I believe the story of both Cornelius and Mary (the woman with the alabaster box) teach us lessons on building memorial before God. Each of us can and must build memorials before God. The Bible tells us that the prayers and the alms of Cornelius came before God as a memorial.
I will be sharing five simple tips on how to build a memorial before God;
- Routine and faithful prayers
- Giving of alms – he that gives to the poor lends to the Lord.
- Giving a prophetic offering: A prophetic offering is neither tithes nor freewill offering; it is an offering a worshipper gives because they were led by the Spirit. It is an offering prepared and offered by inspiration for the mutual benefit of the Body of Christ or the church.
- Sharing the testimony of someones heroic act: It inspires others to take similar steps to advance the kingdom.
- Establishing a day to celebrate the acts of faith and sharing of testimony.
