Luke 9:51-56 KJV — And it came to pass, when the time was come that he should be received up, he stedfastly set his face to go to Jerusalem, [52] and sent messengers before his face: and they went, and entered into a village of the Samaritans, to make ready for him. [53] And they did not receive him, because his face was as though he would go to Jerusalem.
[54] And when his disciples James and John saw this, they said, Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elias did? [55] But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of. [56] For the Son of man is not come to destroy men’s lives, but to save them. And they went to another village.
The Anointing is the presence and power of God. This is one of the key things we need to be able to walk Christ-like. We need the same presence and power that is upon Christ to function as Christ would.
Four (4) important things happen if you don’t catch the anointing that was on Christ;
1. You will be out of order if you don’t catch the anointing:
you will copy blindly and err. The disciples of Jesus Christ wanted to call down fire to burn the city as Elijah did. You must catch the same anointing that is upon Jesus Christ, the anointed one.
2. You will be fleshy and powerless before the challenges of life;
3. You will not be able to serve your generation to the fullest:
The anointing enhances your skills and talents and gifts.
4. You will be limited to human reasoning which is often contrary to the thoughts of God:
Far shallow than the thoughts of God.
May the Lord anoint and transform us into the image of his dear son. May your head never lack ointment! May you be strengthened and empowered for grace.
