Philippians 2:12-13 KJV — Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. [13] For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
When you begin to do anything, the excitement and exuberance of novelty, sometimes makes you think that that is it! It is important to understand that life has a way of challenging and testing your loyalty and motive. More often than not life will employ a storm or self sufficiency to test your loyalty and motive. Most people quit when a storm hits or when they find something more worthwhile to do.
If you really want to finish what you started and be genuine about it, then:
1. You must have a burning desire
Sometimes on the inside you should be driving your choices, direction, and actions. If whatever is driving you is external, you are likely to be feeling coerced; you must internalize the desire and the drive to choose, orient right, and push.
2. Pray that God will give you a strong and burning desire to do His will
You must pray that God will cause you to love His will, desire to do it, and be able to do it. He is the one who makes you both willing and able to do His will.
3. Keep company with those who sharpen you to want to keep doing it
When you align and flock with people with contrary desires, they start to water down your fire.
Without a genuine love and desire, most of our choices are superficial and it’s only a matter of time and the storm exposes our ill motives. Tough love keeps you going. This tough love is when you know all my flaws and foolishness, yet you love me. It transforms into committed love, when you don’t both know why you love but feel it’s right to only love.
Benediction
May the Lord stir our hearts to love, to be willing to do His good pleasure! May you experience the inspiration to choose, orient to, and do the will of God! May you never lose your desire to serve and find peace!
Amen
