The Christian life calls for diligence, passion, and devotion. Paul, writing to the Romans, reminds us that believers are not to be slothful in business. This does not only refer to our daily work or occupation but also to every assignment, opportunity, and responsibility God places in our hands. Laziness, procrastination, and carelessness rob us of fruitfulness and effectiveness. As children of God, we are called to a higher standard — to work heartily as unto the Lord.
Being fervent in spirit means keeping our hearts aflame with zeal and passion for God. Just as a fire must be fed to keep burning, our spiritual fervency requires prayer, the Word of God, fellowship, and obedience. When our spirit burns with passion for the Lord, we serve Him joyfully, regardless of challenges. True service to God is not mechanical or forced; it flows from a heart that is alive with zeal and devotion.
Therefore, in your studies, work, ministry, and personal walk with God, avoid slothfulness. Give your best as an act of worship to the Lord. Remember, you are not just working for people — you are serving Christ. Let diligence, passion, and faithfulness mark your life, so that your service to God brings Him glory.

Lord, help me to put away laziness and excuses. Fill me with zeal and passion for Your work. May I serve You faithfully in all I do, and let my life be a reflection of diligence and devotion to You. Amen.
