“And the angel of the Lord appeared unto him, and said unto him, The Lord is with thee, thou mighty man of valour.” — Judges 6:12 (KJV)
Many years ago a man destined to save a nation, was hiding to thresh wheat on a wine press. Gideon never saw himself as mighty. When the angel of the Lord met him, he was hiding from the Midianites, struggling to survive, and questioning if God was still with Israel.
Yet, heaven called him what he could not see in himself – a mighty man of valour. This encounter reveals that God does not define us by our fears or failures but by His purpose and power at work within us.
First, the presence of a storm or struggle does not mean God is absent. Gideon’s nation was in distress, but God had not abandoned them.
Many times, God shows up in the very place we think He has forsaken. Your hardship may actually be the training ground where God raises you to be the deliverer of others.
Second, you are bigger and mightier than you think. Gideon called himself “the least in my father’s house,” yet God saw a warrior. Heaven always addresses us according to our divine potential, not our present limitation.
Inside every trembling believer is a mighty vessel waiting to rise. The strength you seek has already been placed within you, it only needs to be stirred.
Finally, even when God is with you, you must arise and act in your endued might. The angel did not promise to fight for Gideon but urged him to “Go in this thy might.”
God’s presence empowers, but it does not excuse passivity. Until you step forward in faith, the might within you remains dormant. When you move, heaven moves with you.
Stop hiding from your calling. The same God who called Gideon calls you today: “Go in this thy might.”
Don’t wait for perfect conditions or visible signs, His strength is already in you. Arise, act, and watch God turn your weakness into wonders.
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for being with me even in the midst of life’s storms. Help me to see myself as You see me – strong, able, and chosen.
Give me the courage to rise and go in the might You have placed within me, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
