Leadership carries a weight of accountability that the congregation rarely sees, watching for souls, giving account before God, carrying burdens often in silence. This month, pray specifically and earnestly for the Bishop and every leader of HighCity Church: for wisdom in decision-making, protection from attack, fresh anointing for the assignment, and joy rather than grief as they faithfully watch over God’s flock.
Behind every visible ministry moment, a powerful sermon, a well-run service, a thriving department, lies an unseen weight of responsibility carried by leadership: watching over souls, praying through difficult decisions, absorbing criticism, and standing accountable before God for the direction of the house.
Hebrews reminds the congregation that leaders carry out this task in one of two postures, with joy, or with grief, and that our own submission and support directly influence which posture our leaders experience.
This month, commit to praying specifically and by name for the Bishop and every leader within HighCity Church. Pray for wisdom that exceeds human understanding in every decision, both large and small. Pray for divine protection over their health, their families, their reputation, and their spiritual walk, recognising that leaders are frequent targets of the enemy’s most concentrated attacks.
Pray for fresh anointing that renews their strength daily, preventing burnout and discouragement. Pray for faithful, trustworthy teams to surround and support them, sharing the load rather than leaving them isolated.
And pray specifically that their labour over this house would be met with joy rather than grief, joy that comes when a congregation walks in unity, obedience, and genuine spiritual growth. As you pray this month, also examine your own posture toward leadership, ensuring that your own life contributes to their joy rather than their burden.
